Beyer Weighs in on Secretariat

Most interesting part is where he says the Secretariat earned a 139 for his Belmont. I had heard this somewhere, but I'm not sure if Beyer has ever admitted it/put it in print before.

I think I saw this answer in another thread but have forgotten the answer. What are the top all time Beyers?

Formal Gold.

In 1997 ----- 126, 124 and 125 in consecutive races

Ghostzapper's 128 - it says in the article

Groovy topped 130 a couple of times I believe.

I think Ghostzapper's is the fastest in the last couple of decades.

Ya you're right. I think GZ's is the highest for a route, but I don't know.
