7.4 Billion earmarked for 9/11 first responders
http://www.politicsdaily.com/2010/09...illion-in-aid/
This should be an interesting debate. We are living in the times of no responsibility for your choices in life. Sorry for all the firefigters that were injured however to borrow a quote from a famous movie "This is the business we chose." |
this is how this usually goes....politicians: "remember our heros that go into harms way to preseve our freedom...blah....blah...blah...BS...BS"....... then when the vote comes down it does not pass....lol. then theres a million and one excuses why it did not.one guy points a finger at the guy on the other side...and nothing happens. yeah, keep trusting the two parties they are looking out for YOU !........they've only been getting away with this for decades and people are so stupid they still believe in one or the other...lol...lol

Maybe we could take away all the health care we give our military after they are discharged. After all, there's no draft. They chose to, for example, get both legs blown off in Afghanistan.
Ummm .... naw. We are a society. If one doesn't want to enjoy the benefits of society, in exchange for the obligations, but rather would prefer a world of rugged individualists with zero societal obligations, it may be better to join up with the sociopaths. Oh, wait. That would make "sociopaths" a societal group. They don't "do" groups. This is too existential for me :wf |

Do first responders everywhere - fire, paramedic, police - a big favor. Tattoo across your forehead, "I believe in strict self-responsibility for my choices". Then, when they trip over your half-alive body after an accident or fire, they can just leave you to the responsibility for the result of your choice, and save someone else. I see plenty of good things to spend our money on, and improving the lives of the people who protect us sure as hell is one. |
this is not a bad thing. the first responders deserve to be well cared of. props to whoever earmarked this.

LOL... People spend the time to post but don't even spend the time to read the link they are posting about. This wasn't / isn't and never will be a post on whether or not first responders should get an entitlement... Riot's post really shows that she can't even dig in past the ****i<ng headlines. In this case I don't believe she even read the headline. Riot sometimes its better to keep your mouth closed and let people think you are an idiot than open your mouth and remove all doubts.:zz:

Let's fairly note that Obama sure has hell has shown more concern for the civilians harmed in the 9-11 terrorist attack (and that especially includes the civilian first responders) than jms62. |

And you would LOVE Hannity: he rarely says "President Obama", he refers to him on his program as, "The Anointed One" |

allow me to play devil's advocate for a moment...
why should first responders in this instance get any more than a first responder in any other incident? aren't there already things in place to cover injuries/ilnesses that are job related? why should my brother, out on permanent disability from the dcfd, get less than someone who was at a more famous tragedy? |
