Republicans block bill to lift military gay ban

Shocking...Just shocking that Republicans would be against Gays.

Not all Republicans. It is silly, i agree. Anyone willing to volunteer in the army can do whatever they want in the bedroom.

56 Senators isn't enough to pass it? How can you handcuff anyone this badly, and then blame him for everything that is wrong? ...BTW, which Republican Senators are you talking about?

Not all Republicans in general.

That issue is a tragic waste of time and taxpayer dollars that could be used in other places. Who gives a sh<it if someone is gay or not and they want to serve.

DerbyCat 09-21-2010 03:53 PM

I'm amazed that Lady Gaga didn't have more of an influence in this decision - I thought for sure she was the ace in the hole to get this passed

Well spoken and I agree with you. There are more pressing matters that need to be taken care of. The top two priorities should be the economy and unemployment.

I had no problems serving with people who liked both sexes. I never had anyone flaunt that the liked both sexes either.

They say it will affect morale in Afghanistan? Shyt, they can't beat my dead grandma. They act like they can beat someone. They can't get worse at accomplishing a goal. Muslims own their weak ass all the time. They're so productive with this policy in place? Give me a break. Win something, and then claim you've got some morale that is at risk. You ain't got the head of the guy you went to get. Can't do much right as it is. Wrong targets hit all the time. What morale?

I think their influence must be close to nil...Right?

SCUDSBROTHER 09-21-2010 04:20 PM

LOL..MEG WHITMAN is down by 5% to Jerry Brown. How much this old girl gunna blow on this? This is too funny.

SCUDSBROTHER 09-21-2010 04:26 PM

I don't think any Republican Senators voted for getting rid of this, and only 5 House Republicans voted to get rid of it (when it passed the House.) Ain't that special? What is that total? 5 Republicans out of 220-230 or so? Damn, people, that's pretty ugly.

ArlJim78 09-21-2010 04:27 PM

Funny how it was only the Republican votes that blocked the bill, and not the two Democratic no votes.

I really doubt Democrats wanted this bill to pass at this moment, and it wouldn't surprise me if they brought it to a vote only after knowing full well that it would be defeated. All they wanted was the issue.

Riot 09-21-2010 04:44 PM

Reid had to vote no as a procedural issue, so he can bring the bill back again as a lame duck in November after the elections (otherwise it's dead forever) - and he's already said he'll do so.

Yes, here you have the GOP voting against giving our troops a pay raise, just so DADT repeal won't pass.

Insufferable moral anti-immigration hypocrites.

The 2 Arkansas traitors? Reid did it for some rules issue (so he can bring it back up, or something.) Wtf would you expect from a BLANCHE? Wasn't that the old lady pole-hound on the Golden Girls?

Because once again the GOP are trying to bring the government to a standstill.

The GOP were the ones that fillibustered the bill, weren't they?

The GOP were the ones that prevented the bill from moving to the Senate floor for a vote, right?

56 Senators in favor of voting on this bill, and the GOP blocked that vote.

The GOP will be in the political wilderness for at least a decade, and the tea party in it's various forms as funded by the Koch brothers and Dick Armey won't change much.

Arl Jim that was a pathetic attempt also.

Danzig 09-21-2010 06:53 PM

what a disgrace. actually, this shouldn't even be brought to a vote. it should be crushed by the supreme court for being the discriminatory, unconstitutional law that it is, and should be erased from the books.

If "Dont ask dont Tell" wasnt on the books then the people who are in the military could be asked if they are homo's and discharged for answering honestly or court-martialled for lying. As it stands I think it should be made a public vote weather the citizens of this country who pay for the military to protect them want or care if gays are in the military.
