Dubai Escapade

Just a romp today winning as much the best. Looks like Calder race was indeed a tossout. Loved Harty's interview after the race. When asked by jan Rushton if he had lost any confidence in the horse after her last loss he responded that he hadnt lost any confidence in the horse but he had lost some confidence in himself. Pretty refreshing to hear a trainer take that attitude.
Completes the biggest weekend in Saratoga history for an owner.
For the record, despite Joel's lies, I have to say that Sheikh Mohammed has earned this. For years he pumped incredible amount of money into the game, money that lined the pockets and changed the lives of many people in the horse business. He had a lot of zillion dollar busts along the way, but the way that he or the people who have managed their USA horses this year have handled them has neen noticably different. Giving Henny time was obviously a great move as was skipping the Belmont with Bernadini.
Do I root for the Americans to beat him in a race? Yeah usually I do. its no different than rooting for the US athletes in the olympics. I think that any person with a sense of pride in their country always roots for its participants before the participants of others.
But that doesn't mean you can't respect the job that his people and he have done this year.

I didnt really have an opinion on the Ballerina today but was very surprised to see Dubai Escapade go off at 6/5. Thought for sure the best you'd get on her was 3/5 due to her early speed and connections.

Somebody other than Dubai Escapade actually went off at 2/1? Why?

I suppose her last race left a bad taste in the mouth of bettors. I certainly thought she would be heavily favored myself. I really couldnt see the money that Maalibu Mint was taking was justified. I think it stemmed from the fact that Gomez was hot up here and was getting the mount from Arce, which was ridiculous because the other kid didn't do anything wrong the last time and she coldnt get by Stormy Kiss. If ever there was an overlay at 6-5, she was it.

You know I didnt see the horse's names, just the numbers. I saw a horse at 2/1 and I thought maybe it was Nothing but Fun or that Stormy Kiss.
If I bet Dubai Escapade, she would have been reeled in, LOL!

I hit the exacta quite a few times. Couldn't believe it paid 27 and change.

Well Henny was stepping up in his only his second race off the layoff. This filly only had to come back to her pre calder form to win by open lengths. The rest of the field were pure nothings.
