8/6: Saratoga (Day 13-John's Call)

Thursday's Guaranteed P6 card at the Spa was heavily affected by 12-2p rains which took the 4th and 6th off the turf and left the main track sloppy. The afternoon improved as it went along, and a perfect stretch of weather starting Friday will reward those that slogged through the elements yesterday. The racing was actually quite formful as it turned out, and though I tinkered too much with the late P4 play, was able to hit the late P3's with the logicals for $103 and $127. That made up for my ridiculous revision of the P4 to $48 after the second set of SCR's which had Bridgetown off it leaving a nice $480 behind the windows. Uggh... Hope you did OK. Note by the way that NYRA's Thursday P6 seeding resulted in more than $112k invested by sextet seekers...

Great weekend of racing on tap with Quality Road headling the Whitney, a superb betting Test, a short but balanced Honorable Miss and Majesticperfection in the Vanderbilt. Friday's Saratoga action is VERY challenging and could be the kind of day that takes just one hit to score out!

Mass Media is off to a super start as a sire (#2 Mass Harbor, 2nd). If Rice's horse gets beat in the opener, I quit the meet.. And Steve has major cojones only going three-wide in the feature. I've narrowed the John's Call down to eight of 'em..

What are you going to do with the rest of your summer?

Kasept 08-06-2010 10:16 AM

Contrary to original indication, Triple Latte WILL RUN in the 9th...

Thought she had to improve a fair amount to beat some of these... She's meant for turf.

the_fat_man 08-06-2010 10:33 AM

Might be worthwhile to take a look at the replay of Lignon's Hero's last race. Very much worth a bet if he's around 10:1.

Fat,

I agree. I'm sorry I didn't include him in the original tabs and will probably be using him too...

G/L today!

Ill have to look again, I thought she was the one to beat. Benzel is hot right now and unless you think the 7 with Edgar is going to push her I thought JV would clear. This group stinks and the cutback should help.

Steve,

BOL today!

Please check, #5 is a scratch in the second race, and in the seventh, Ordination is #3, not the #2 as listed.

Thanks as always.

Looked like somebody dropped $20k on her to win. As the tote switched over to the 3rd race, there was $20k and change on her to win and the others in the race barely had $2k, tops.
