40 Billionaires to Donate Half Their Money

Nice gesture, or demonstration of the socialist/communist/Marxist corruption of the wealthiest in the world? Discuss.

40 Billionaires to Donate Half Their Money

Bill Gates and Warren Buffett have convinced 38 other billionaires to give away half their wealth to charity. Gates and Buffett started "The Giving Pledge" earlier this year; it’s a campaign to get the richest people to donate to the charitable causes of their choice, either before or after their death. Others taking the pledge include Michael Bloomberg, Barry Diller, Larry Ellison, T. Boone Pickens, David Rockefeller, George Lucas, Ted Turner, and Ronald Perelman. The U.S. has about 400 billionaires; the 40 who’ve made the pledge are worth more than $230 billion combined.

Well it is a nice gesture to the colleges and medical facilities. I don't know of much humanitarian aid will be shelled out! Will be interested to see the list of donors.....but hats off to them. THEY earned it, THEY can do with it what they will.

But she supports Kerry docking his boat in RI to avoid taxes. :zz:

I've counted six personalities for her so far but I probably missed 12 others.

I guess it depends on what exactly you mean by "earned."
I mean....David Rockefeller and Ronald Perelman are on the list and they had pretty much "earned" their money once they successfully made it out of the womb.

And Bill Gates and Warren Buffet were self made and worth Rockefeller and Perelman 100X plus. So nice effort but 'air-ball'.

Huh?
I never claimed that everybody on the list owed their billions to inheritance. Obviously many of them do not. It isn't as if George Lucas inherited his Star Wars money.
But I guess I'll congratulate YOU on nicely refuting a point that nobody made.

Rockefeller is probably worth more than everyone else on that list combined.

Think about that family and their history, and ALL of their holdings. They practically control banking, oil and a big chunk of pharma.

They have no remorse, and the donations have nothing to do with making nice.

and they were taxed out of their money like the Walton family in a generation or 2. Hard to pay 50% per year to the IRS and stay.

Actually, no, that would clearly be you and Dell being the freaking morons.

I agree completely with what Timm said. Never said or implied anything differently.

Neither do the scum that have lived off their (billionaires) taxes for the past, couple generations. When you, Yor mom, and grandma never had a job it's time to re-think your position of being with child and ABORT! IT'S YOUR RIGHT!

Try that as a monetary policy.....

I just want out of subsidizing your bum knee and multiple mental problems. Just pay your own insurance, shut up and fight the courts. Why bring me and others into your health issues? I'm too taxed with my work out to remain healthy.

Hey - you're the guy who jumps to conclusions and ends up looking silly. Don't blame me for your embarassments.
