Good luck this week.

This is a great golf course. I love CB Macdonald.

That said- premium is on mid/short iron play. I'll try Leonard at 65-1 and Barnes at 28-1, both among the leaders in this category.

Watney scratches..

Did you know this is the only CB MacDonald course open to the public?

Overton in the hunt at -6.. If I lose I would love for the first round leader Erik Compton to go wire to wire... Great story a DOUBLE heart transplant patient.

I had no idea- just looked up his list of courses. I think Yale is now open to public play sometimes, but it was private before. I've played Yale and NGL, both were just so fun... going to try to get to Greenbrier one of these days. I stayed in the hotel in the winter, it's an amazing resort. Have you played it?

I played with Compton in 1999 in a USGA Publinks qualifier- he won it... Great guy, you could tell he was running out of gas at the end but fought on. 36 holes on a tough walking course is hard for anyone, let alone a guy with a heart transplant.

I'm impressed that your game is at that level.

No, sore subject. The year and a half I played in college (I sucked horribly then, slightly worse than now) I was always either 5th or 6th man on the traveling squad, which meant I had to qualify against other guys on the team to make each tournament. The only tourney I failed to qualify for in my time there was one being held at The Greenbriar:wf

Thanks- I was a pretty good player in college. Getting back to that level finally after really taking a break from competitive golf for a long time. Played REALLY well today, actually- played a match against our head pro and thrashed him.

I know the feeling- I was in the same situation. Was always 4/5/6/7th man.

We should try to get out there sometime- do you think they will cut you a deal on your PGA card? It's about 4 hours for me, what about from the Noke? I really want to play Old White.

jms62 08-01-2010 04:58 PM

Fitting end to a misearable day... I lose to a 59.

Only about 45 minutes from me. I would imagine they would maybe charge me cart fee, at most.

Rough. Good pick on Overton- I thought you were home.

I know these players are absurdly good- but what's with all the super low scores lately? that's two 60's and two 59's in the last two American tour stops.

If the Old White weren't a par 70, then it would have been a 61 and 62 this week...and we never really would have heard a peep. I think they said Overton hit a wedge into every par 4 on either Friday or Saturday. Thats 12 holes, combined with two easily reachable par 5's....AND, throw in some greens that are soft as Scavs stomach = a recipe for incredibly low scores.
