T BAZE will be away for a while.

SCUDSBROTHER 07-24-2010 08:57 PM

I think a Horsey play kick face. Hope the damage isn't permanent.

Coach Pants 07-24-2010 10:28 PM

I hope he has a speedy recover and I wish him and Vic nothing but the best.

Thanks for playing.

Baze to miss rest of meet with serious facial injuries

UPDATED: Baze will continue to need it. He learned Sunday afternoon that he will miss the rest of the Del Mar meet after a doctor recommended surgery, said Vic Stauffer, Baze's agent.

After being released from the hospital at about 4 p.m., Baze was examined by Dr. Jeffrey Umansky, who also attended to Bejarano last year. Umansky advised Baze to have surgery on the facial fractures he suffered when his mount reared up and head-butted him. Baze also broke his nose.

Baze will return home to Monrovia to see an eye doctor on Monday before returning to Del Mar on Thursday to consult with Umansky again. The operation is expected to take place within the next 10 days.

Well this sucks and yeah not new but I'm catching up on stuff and hadn't seen this.

Hope he recovers sooner then expected.

I've always been a fan.

No need to worry about Vic. Kickin it at the beach and recharging the batteries. Tyler meets with plastic surgeon today at 1:15. I'll be there Afterwards it's off to Padres vs Dodgers at 3:30 then IN THE HEIGHTS at the San Diego Civic at 8:00. :)

If I'm not mistaken, that's how Alvaro Pineda was killed in 1975 at Santa Anita. A horse whipped its head around and sent his head into the metal bars.

FYI, Cedros won a few weeks back. Paid well.

Baze met with Dr. Jeffrey Umansky of Umansky Medical Center for Plastic Surgery Thursday and will have surgery Tuesday at 8 a.m., according to his agent, Vic Stauffer.

“Tyler is holding up very well thanks to his wife (Christina), who is doing a phenomenal job orchestrating everything for him,” Stauffer said.

Stauffer said Dr. Umansky will repair the cheek bone around the lower part of Baze’s right eye and then take a look at Baze’s broken nose to see if it needs set.
