Halfway Home At Monmouth

And a 113% increase in handle so far.

200% increase in total handle, then I would term it a success.

The haters who thought 25% increase was a pipe dream have no answer.

Let's face it is a success so far, obviously the question is will it be sustainable, personally I am happy it is part of the betting buffet. Most players just want attractive options, who knows what is on tap for next year? So we may as well enjoy it while it lasts.

Who said that?

I don't know how much of an affect that it would have on the meet, but they have been blessed weather wise. Not sure if they lost any turf races this past weekend, but for the most part the weather has been almost perfect.

Are you kidding? Do I need to go to the videotape?

No I'm not kidding. Those threads were beyond tedious to read and I couldn't get through more than a couple pages. I'm honestly curious as to who said a 25% increase was a pipe dream.

From Vader:

"Mind me?

You're the one who said they would easily surpass a 25% increase in handle....I'm the one who didn't particularly agree."

So what would we call a 113% increase----or we could try and talk about exactly how much money they have given away each day instead.

Thanks

Fair enough but how much of that increase is just because of weather? For instance I've been there twice on weekends when its rained so far so it hasn't been perfect.

Let's call a spade a spade NJ (the State) gets it! NY State wants to figure out why employee A at NYRA makes 100k a year but is willing to let Union employee at OTB make 100k a year without working a half a day nevermind a full day?

I really am not sure, because they haven't (to my knowledge) had a card that has been devestated by weather and weather related scratches as of yet. But then again, the new Monmouth now has AE lists and MTO entries, the old Monmouth would scratch down to 3 horse fields. But the good weather has probably helped with the attendence and on track handle, but I would have no idea to what extent as far as numbers would go.

The half day concept is a brilliant stroke of genious in increasing the handle.
