7/12 (DEL 7th): Midnight Lute half debut

Nice P3 sequence at DEL today starting with MSW 7th that features Pletcher's BANK HEIST, Candytuft's 3yo that sold for $900k as a KEE Sept yearling... Lukas has 3rd time starter DELONG ROAD here as well, notable as a son of the wonderful Tates Creek.

I wonder if that's the most ever paid for a Maria's Mon yearling.

JerseyJ 07-12-2010 03:16 PM

Might be the last time anyone ever pays 900K for a Maria's Mon yearling after that performance...Delong Road just demolished that group. Bank Heist was a bit overbet there at 1/2 I would say as a firster.

Why would anyone ever bet that horse today? What are the positives of running that horse at Deleware? The 38k purse? The only thing that maybe said the horse was ready was JV being there, but he has no where else to ride today anyway, so thats not a big deal. If that horse was ANYTHING AT ALL, he would have made his debut in NY or at Monmouth, especially only a week away from Toga.

DWL would train all of my horses with turf pedigrees.

If you think he was overbet take a look at the pick-3 will pay for the 82-1 #6 in that race.
$4,640 in the pool. There would have had to be $386 on that combo to make the $1 payout $9.00. Tvg had the same will pay as youbet.

So, your point, is that the PUBLIC ALONE made this horse 3/5? Never ran across DEAD on the BOARD Pletcher horses before? (Like that layoff horse Sunday at MTH). And Johnny V just happened to be at DEL and took the mount. He was really there to ride the 3 in the 5th (and get nailed at the wire).

This horse never picked its feet up. And, hard to believe that the barn didn't think it'd win.

Seemed like he handled the dirt pretty darn well today.

Actually the horse was entered to debut before that FG maiden race that he ran 3rd in, in a 5.5F MSW on the turf at the Fair Grounds, but was an AE.

2 of 3.

Anyone have a beyer on the winner of this race, considering it went faster than one of the allowances on the day?

That would seem to make sense except I wonder why 2 of 3 wasn't indicated in the will pay grid and that would still mean that there were 386 tickets with the 6 horse combined with either the first or second leg winner but none with both.

87. Winner of the 8th got a 94, winner of the 9th got a 82.

Let's see:

Pletcher has a 1ster in the 5th at DEL today, a $40K maiden claimer.

Jara is up and the purchase price was only $100k. 2:1 with 7 minutes to post.

I would be more inclinded to like this Todd then yesterday's, the works on this one suck and they even worked on turf... This low level makes sense, the Midnight Lute yesterday had some good works and bullets, and like I said if he could run he would have been in NY or NJ. I think this Todd wins this race. Nothing wrong with taking9-2 especially when the top beyer is in like mid 40's for the logical contenders.

the_fat_man 07-13-2010 02:02 PM

4:1 at post time

RockHardTen1985 07-13-2010 02:03 PM

WOW, that was ugly, almost as bad as my speed handicapping.

the_fat_man 07-13-2010 02:05 PM

never picked up its feet; which was clear from the odds.

then again, a 25:1 shot won the race and Dutrow was 7:5.

I think they were trying yesterday and fell on their faces.
