Boys at Toscanova

That was an impressive win by Boys At Tosconova at Belmont today. He won by 12 lengths in :56 1/5. They (Dutrow for Jay Emm Ess) actually just bought this colt privately. He had run 2nd at Churchill in his debut. They paid $375,000 for 75%. It looks like a good buy after the way he ran today. That's got to be the fastest race of the year by any 2 year old.

He ran second in the Kentucky Juvenile in his debut. You have to know when those connections put a first-time starter in a stakes, he can run a little. Flatters Lou Brissie for tomorrow's Bashford Manor.

It was very impressive. I do think in time it will become clear that this was not a strong MSW but he still did exactly what you could hope and he did it with great ease.

This colt's dam actually won at 1 1/8 miles so that gives him some hope.

How do I get there? Follow the yellow brick road?

I sure hope I don't end up in a maximum security prison run by HBO.

Do they still run the Sanford and the Saratoga Special, or only one of the two?

Just think, less than a decade ago they ran:

Tremont
Sanford
Saratoga Special
Hopeful
Futurity
Cowdin
Champagne

...in succession. They only need about 3 of those nowadays.

I suppose since Dutrow already "called" the Hopeful, Asmussen will point Kantharos for the Futurity next.

Even if he doesn't compare to either of the other two, I'm going to chuckle when Lou Brissie is the only one running in Derby preps next March.

A First Samurai firster put in a decent late run today at Churchill, Im looking for him next time. As for the 3 we are talking about, and Classics next year, I doubt any of them get there.
