The opposite of great

Who do you worry about?

Who has done enough (and not in a good way) or never will... who is pushed and pushed? Who makes you cringe when you see that they're entered?

In the wake of Wake at Noon who do you wish would be retired? Who do you wish you could retire?

I usually let others go first but I will this time.

I have two.

Once upon a time, last year, I was pretty damned happy when I realized I wasn't getting any workout notices for Santana Strings.

He won the Amsterdam in 2005...

http://www.bloodhorse.com/horse-raci...-amsterdam-win

"He's a very nice horse," said Asmussen, who blamed himself for earlier failures by Santana Strings. "This is who he has always been. I just really made some wrong moves with him early."

He was 2nd to Lost in the Fog in the Sunshine Millions Sprint, 2nd in the Gravesend... hit the board sporadically (Alysheba, Sugar Bowl, a few others. I guess he likes being 2nd as he has been 12 or so times).

He entered stud in 2009 (Pin Oak Lane) and I don't know what happened but he's back in training.

Workouts that say things like 20/20 at Evangeline... just makes me wish he'd be retired again.

My other horse is Crown Point who actually did shock the hell out of me by hitting the board at Aqueduct in November.

8 years old, he had won the Pilgrim in 2004 (didn't Eskendereya win that?), hit the board in the Red Smith, Tropical Park Derby, don't have lifetime pps for either so can't really remember the rest. Let's just say I don't expect he'll make the BC this year.

It's really easy to sit here and pass judgement never having been an owner. I realize that, that that's exactly what I'm doing and I apologize.

That said, do you all have horses in your VS like this?

Is there at least one who you fear for? Worry about?

Who is it and why? How far have they fallen?

(By the way if anyone ever hears anything about Exceptional Ride (yeah I'm still looking for him) please post it. It's like he fell off the face of the earth.)

Anyone?
