I feel sick. Tried to pull him up and then he went down.

I can't see how the horse wasn't put down.

Chaysen' Alex trailed the field early but came with a powerful run in the stretch to get up for the victory. Race was marred by the breakdown of Inhaler. On the far turn, Inhaler, who stalked the pace early, was starting to get pulled up by Dominguez and bearing out, causing favored Cires to be taken extremely wide. Cires was able to get by Inhaler, who then took a bad step and fell to the ground. Dominguez rolled over a couple of times but did not look to be seriously injured. The horse broke down in his left front, with broken sesamoids along with other injuries, and was euthanized on the track.

That's terribly sad. My sympathies to all his connections.

Feel bad for the horse and glad Dominguez is ok . These comments like "took a bad step" seem as an attempt to cover any injury . I don't believe we know what caused the breakdown . I do know that Inhaler was off almost a year . I do know he is by Unbridled Song with a 3x4 Mr Prospector cross . This is a high risk breeding and unfortunately it's up to the horse to live with it and try to survive with it . He had no choice in the breeding .

As always breakdowns are difficult to take. For me, it's the only thing that has made me stay away from a track for an extended period of time.

This one sounds like it was one of the worst. God bless Inhaler. I hope he did not suffer long.

I pray the connections did not run this horse knowing something was not 100% with him. I don't have the PPs so I don't know anything about Inhaler. The fact that he was off a year is questionable.

As Richard wrote, "I don't believe we know what caused the breakdown". I agree. Interesting too regarding Unbridled Song with a 3x4 Mr Prospector cross being high risk breeding. Did not know this so thanks for this insight.

God bless and protect all the horses. Without them we have nothing.

Goldberg/Santulli? I think it would be pretty hard to question the connections. I have been watching/playing their layoff runners all spring. They have had great success and have been connecting at a 29% clip.

Besides, its not like the owner needs the money and its not like the trainer needs the win. Breakdowns happen. It is a sad but unfortunate part of the sport.

Glad to hear your thoughts about the connections. That helps.

Thanks
