A mare who actually takes on the best routinely, including males.

Looked like he had her but then hung.

Don't you know, it's much easier in Europe than it is here.

slotdirt 06-15-2010 10:32 AM

Yes, the Queen Anne is a much easier spot comparatively than, say, the Californian.

She's most likely the best horse in the world.. let alone best Filly / Mare.

Swiss Alps. Can only cross em' once per year. Its a short flight to California for two consecutive BC Mile wins right also, right (take a different route to avoid the Rockies)?

To be the best filly/mare in the world, you must be undefeated...LOL

I agree Peppers Pride is the best still

ateamstupid 06-15-2010 11:08 AM

A true champion mare. Can't get enough of her.

philcski 06-15-2010 11:20 AM

She is amazing. Unless she either gets a horrific trip or goes severely off form she will win 3 straight BC's.

(Although I'm concerned about her shipping to Kentucky- those Appalachian Mountains are pretty imposing...)

slotdirt 06-15-2010 11:21 AM

Those mountains AND that darned ocean out there. Don't sleep on that effect - I'm sure J. Sheriffs isn't.

smuthg 06-15-2010 11:33 AM

I felt she was much the best horse at the 2008 Breeders' Cup and probably 1(a) last year... I don't have the depth of racing knowledge as many, but, who is the last turf miler that is even in her class?

AlreadyHome 06-15-2010 11:38 AM

nice

I'm tempted to say Rock of Gibraltar, but he couldn't win one BC race, let alone two (likely three). Goldy may well be the best since Miesque.

Lure is who I'd say.

Since the early part of the decade the milers haven't really been all that great. I loved Artie Schiller, but he's not in Goldikova's class at all.

To be fair rock of Gibraltar probably lost because he was checked behind a horse breaking down at the top of the stretch.

First of all, there simply aren't that many opportunities for her in Europe, especially at a mile, against her sex.

Second of all, while she is clearly terrific, she also beat Kip Deville in one BC, and Courageous Cat and Justenufhumor in the other. If I'm not mistaken, Miesque absolutely drowned Steinlen in her second BC Mile win...and Lure's first BC Mile was amazing.

She is an extraordinarily good horse. But perhaps a little perspective?
