Who were the best horses of the 1970's?
Hey guys. I am curious about the 1970's of horse racing. I am researching the era and am unable to find a list of the best horses from the 70's.
Here's whose on my list of great 1970's Horses - tell me who I'm missing? Secretariat Seattle Slew Affirmed Alydar Spectacular Bid Ruffian Forego Ack Ack Riva Ridge Sham Canonero II Wajima Davona Dale Foolish Pleasure Hoist the Flag whose missing? I need some help:) |
I grew up watching horse racing during the 1970's as a teenager - -
I think Honest Pleasure & Bold Forbes should definitely be on you list I'd include Key to the Mint, Little Current John Henry started winning in the 1970's - I swear I was at Aqueduct with my Dad the day (May 1978) he ran in a claiming race (I wish I could find the program) - I think R. Donato was the trainer. My favorite horse of the 1970's was Wajima (relished the mud) Seattle Slew did everything easily - Spectacular Bid was a monster - - Everytime Forego ran was a big event !!!! |
The Bloodhorse has an area with a searchable index for the Eclipse Award winners by year. That would be a good place to look for some of the stars of the 70's. Here's the link:
