Belmont - Race 9 OFF THE TURF

Because rain is supposed to start shortly, and pick up around 2 O'Clock, a decision has been made to take the 9th race off the turf. We feel this is the fairest choice given the possible scenerio as it involves the Pick-6. Rather than face a situation of being forced to remove the race from the grass AFTER the Pick-6 had started, and thus create an " all " situation, we felt it was fairest to all to make this decision when we did. We are commited to running the rest of the turf races as scheduled. Post times will also be accelerated during the day.

A lot of rain boys and girls not around here.

Thank you...

Thanks Andy...Is that why there is a delay in posting the scratches? They stopped posted mid-race 6 on the NYRA website...

I assume there are none in 7&8. 9 will be posted momentarily and we anticipate having 8 runners.

Does the Benzel horse suddenly become the most likely single on the card?
Maybe 6-5?

And nice job by NYRA to get ahead of this and be proactive. The bettors will surely appreciate it.

hard to leave the lone speed 3 out.

I personally think that she would be extremely tough to single. The drop looks a little suspect, add that to the fact that there is other speed in the race and she is breaking from the extreme outside. Plus there is a good chance that this is the first time she will step on to an off track, all at a very short price.

I would agree if the race was 4-1/2 furlongs. ;)
Actually, I was going to use the 3 on my budget ticket if it stayed on the turf...Now, I'll probably take my chances and single Aquit.

But then again, I'm only going to do a $64 ticket.

GP park blew this terribly one day this past winter , the bettors got the short end of the stick that day ----nyra got this right today

I wouldn't trust any Benzel horses as a single imo

Nobody else in here has been competitive against open company allowance horses (on either surface). Aquit's April 2nd race looks to have come back strong. I'm not worried about the drop (they only paid $50K for him) and the extremely positive jock switch helps matters. I'm worried about the off track, but who else in here looks like they'll relish it?

The #3 has handled the slop at least once. She seems like the speed of the speed and should be on the engine early. I also think if the #1 could work out a trip from the rail she should be close enough to be a factor late.
