Happy Ticket's foals?
When I was looking up past winners of the Fleur de Lis I decided to take a minute to reflect on Happy Ticket who died a little over a year ago. I remembered she had the 2 foals and went to check out whether at least one had a name yet on the Breeders Cup nomination site. The colt's 2 and still unnamed, but the Empire Maker filly didn't show up at all. I didn't remember anything happening to her, she was born healthy, but obviously things might not work out even then. This just seems weird. Does anybody know what's up with her? Why does it look like Happy Ticket didn't even have a foal in 2009?

She died giving birth to her 2nd foal. Remember Google is your friend. ha ha ha

That's sad. I enjoyed seeing that pic of Happy Ticket and Distorted Humor...

I believe she actually died when the foal was a few days old. She was
found dead in the pasture. I thought the foal was put on a nurse mare, I didn't think it died also. |
From pedigreequery (which is not always 100% right):
Foals: 2008 colt by Distorted Humor, 2009 Filly by Empire Maker Found dead in her paddock on May 3, 2009, nine days after delivering her second foal. An autopsy determined that Happy Ticket developed complications that ultimately traced back to foaling. The Distorted Humor has been nominated to the Breeders Cup but no name is given and it does not show up in Equibase yet. |

I first thought she was a fraud..She grew on me and I think she was one tough SOB on the track. Maybe not the fastest or quickest filly, but always came to work with her lunch box and left with a solid effort. I grew to like her a lot. I hope she tossed two good ones?
