Where were the closers
Believe they went 46:2 to the half and the closers were no where!!! I was expecting someone to come from off the pace. Jackson Bend is one guttsy horse. Then I thought First Dude was going to come back which was wishful thinking since I had a $5 BES-Preakness double alive for over $1K. Played the race terribly as I expected Super Saver to hit the board. I thought First Dude was going to win when Super Saver was backing out of it, L@L was 4 wide...oh well, on to the Belmont.

Lookin at Lucky was closer than usual but he wasn't battling for the lead. Yawanna Twist and Jackson Bend both came from off the pace. This was Pimlico; not some synthetic closer friendly speed-killing track.

I think Steve Crist is right, if Eskendraya was running we'd probably have a triple crown on the line in 3 weeks.

You really would have confidence in Pletcher, I wouldn't.

There's little doubt that Eskendreya, if healthy, would be going for the TC right now. |

Yes, most likely the best horse but he couldn't dance the dance. The year Barberstown won the Belmont there was a s h i t pot of Triple Crown hopefuls that were better than Barberstown. They got sick that year at Hollywood Park and most died. You got to dance the dance. |
