Rudy Rodriguez

Metulla? Really?

Now it's getting excessive.

the_fat_man 05-13-2010 01:45 PM

Why? Just because the dude was a 'poor' jock, it doesn't mean he can't be a good 'chemist'. Ooops: meant to write 'trainer'.

It's incredible: they must get limited doses and pass the **** around. Where's Sydney at this point in time, btw?

Who else is going to show up from that 'group' and start winning a shitload of races: the maid?

By 5 lengths no less . . . .

I may not be following NYRA as closely but who is this trainer? I have not heard of him before and it looks like he is winning at a 50 percent clip but how is it different from the other super trainers who win at a ridiculous rate?

Rudy is a journeyman jockey who rode infrequently in NY until recently when he started training, would get mostly longshots, but Dutrow would give him some live horses to ride. I think he also worked horses for Dutrow in the morning.

What makes him different is that most suspect he learned his tecniques from Dutrow and he is not just winning at a clip that even the so called supertrainers don't in NY, the horses that he is running are showing vast improvements since being in his care.

The difference is that it is an exjock who apparently has either got his horses doing daily high impact Pilates to improve performance almost immediately or has discovered the next generation of undetectable chemical advantages immune to conventional testing.

You want to choose which one it is.....?

Now that you mentioned he was a jockey, I think I remember him. A learned crook from the Dutrow school of chemistry.

How about the conspiracy that ole Rudy is just a testing ground for his boy who gave him some steam mounts over the years.

I wonder if it's 'his boy' rather than the connections his boy trains for (so, this would go outside the immediate 'family'). And, certainly, if Rudy is a testing ground, so was/is Sydney. The maid is next.

It doesnt matter anymore. These criminals get away with it and the officials look away for reasons I dont know. The $1500 fines and 30 day suspensions are just "for show" punishments to make the public think that the authorities have it under control. The best thing to do as a horseplayer is to know who has the best chemistry set and ride the wave.

He rode Frost Giant to victory in the Suburban in 2008.

Too bad he didn't start training a little earlier...maybe he could have helped Gary Stevens with the transition from jockey to trainer. On a serious note Rodriguez seems like an excellent horseman who obviously knows what he is doing when it comes to training a horse.

I'm sure a few other low percentage trainers could learn a thing or two by getting a look at those trainer charts...knowing how many days to walk, jog, gallop, work etc.. Rudy obviously knows how to get a horse to perform up to it's capabilities in the afternoon.

Is this sarcasm or are you serious?

Let's call a spade a spade the guy obviously recognizes what is bothering a horse. Once he tells the vet what's up its up to the vet to fix the problem until he gets a positive which many dont I am 2 thumbs up

Scav what the hell are you even talking about here? Are you implying that Rick Dutrow has come up with some new superdrugs and is having Rudy test them? For a second I thought that Rockhardten dope posted this.

While he is winning at a sick rate, the horses aren't exactly improving insanely a la Marty Wolfson. He is claiming horses/getting horses from The Dutrows and placing them in the right spots(something not all trainers have a clue about). If you look at the owners that are using Rudy you will see they are all pretty much have been Dutrow clients for years. They know Rudy and know how hard the guy has worked over the years. Rick Dutrow is really not training cheap claimers anymore so any leftover claimers are being given to him. Any of his owners who want to continue in the claimers game will probably use Rudy.

Rudy has been working for one of the top outfits for a long time so it's pretty safe to say that they guy knows his stuff.

As far as Rick Dutrow.......I am no fan of his at all and think he is a loudmouth pr#ck. And yes he has cheated like the rest of them and been caught. But anyone who works for him knows he runs a top notch stable and is a very talented horseman. So a guy who worked under him for yrs is bound to have success.

How? WHY? wouldn't you want your horse conditioned by Dutrow? The guy is awesome..Who could you want? Ok if you have a real sound Fn stud Tagg or if you have major talent Zito, but if you have a horse that has talent but has a 9 month shelf life who could you posssible want.

It's funny when you have a billion dollars and you giggle at life Sheppard seems like the only trainer in the world. When you have enough to race Dutrow is an obvious superstar!

Was just throwing out the possiblity and I know it is wild and has a 1% chance of being true. But, Dutrow can't get caught again without getting major public backlash.

He is claiming horses and moving them up in class and dominating, I am most interested in the repeat efforts and see how long they actually hold their form. I am a selective follower of the NYRA. I mess around with Toga and some Belmont turf races, so the only reason I have taken notice is someone mentioned it to me about 6 weeks ago, and paid attention since.

Funny coming form the guy who uses one of the biggest cheating families in the game as his trainer.

While Dutrow obviously has a past.....the sh#t he does is nothing like the cr#p Stephanie Beattie and the rest of that demented clan do. The fact that she got that cripple you had to win a few races is one of the Seven Wonders of the World.
