I Want Revenge troubled work includes 'Edison' breaking down

I Want Revenge, now in the barn of Richard Dutrow Jr., returned to the work tab Friday, breezing three furlongs in 38.25 seconds on Aqueduct's main track under exercise rider Gustavo Rodriguez. But the work was far from routine.

Break Water Edison, another horse trained by Dutrow, had just completed a workout prior to I Want Revenge breaking off. A few strides past the finish line, however, Break Water Edison, took a couple of bad steps and fell, suffering a broken shoulder.

After being down on the track for about 30 minutes, he was euthanized. In the stretch, I Want Revenge had to be taken off the rail by Rodriguez and guided several paths off the inside in order to complete his breeze.

Let me guess: they'll have Gustavo take a few chem classes and he'll be training horses next year and winning even more races than Rudy is.

Any relation?

30 minutes seems like forever. RIP.
"As a 2-year-old, when trained by John Kimmel, Break Water Edison won the Grade 3 Nashua Stakes at Aqueduct. Transferred to Dutrow earlier this year, Break Water Edison won a second-level allowance race on April 18 but came back five days later to finish last in a third-level allowance."-DRF

The Pamplemousse resumes training (second paragraph)

Quote:

The Pamplemousse, winner of two stakes for 3-year-olds in the winter of 2009, will resume jogging this week after recovering from a tendon injury, co-owner Alex Solis II said.

The Pamplemousse was taken out of training in late March 2009, days before an expected start in the Santa Anita Derby. He was found to have a lesion on a tendon. Solis said Sunday that The Pamplemousse recently underwent tests that showed the 4-year-old could resume exercise with trainer Julio Canani.

"It would be nice to have him ready to race at Del Mar," said Solis, the son of the jockey.

Maybe bettors should be able to scratch horses on humanitarian grounds.
