Obama: Arizona law securing borders is "misguided"

I can't make this stuff up. The president, in his typical condescending way, now says that we need "immigration reform" a.k.a amnesty, because if not (gasp) the states might actually do the unthinkable and prevent the illegals from coming in.

I can't wait for November, and to hear the Democrats defend this stance against securing the borders.

It is misguided you fugging idiot. People like you cry about the gov't "taking over your lives," but now you think it's cool for the cops to knock on doors and interrogate people looking for immigrants.

And keep shouting about November, as if the Republicans are going to get major gains running on platforms of no ideas and less ideas.

Well..they will..only because every political party since forever makes major gains in the in between election of a sitting President whose party smoked the other previously. Except the Repubs will proclaim it's an indictment of the sitting anti-christ President and proceed to declare The Second Amendment includes shooting Democrats.

And then Obama will still win in 2012 and they will be forced to review the video of Chappequidik yet one more time.

They'll pick up seats but I think the democrats will still have majorities. And that's really all we need in order to keep destroying America and eventually take everyone's guns away and use them for abortions.

My aren't you an eloquent one? You got that vocabulary in college I assume?

The key word here is ILLEGAL. They are breaking the law, and somebody has to enforce the law. If the feds won't do it, the states will. What does the federal government think, that Arizona for example can just keep affording to pay for all the strain on their infrastructure from the illegals, who do not pay income taxes and use the emergency room like their own personal physician?

Get ready for a big old Red Tsunami coming your way. The people who work and pay taxes have had enough of this garbage.

Way to not address my point. Have that paranoia checked out.

Who's the paranoid one here? -- you have the cops knocking on doors to look for illegal aliens -- like that's really going to happen. The way I took the reports was that they will be able to ascertain the legal status of people in traffic stops or who are arrested for other things.

Right now, the cops have to turn a blind eye to legal status and that has to be remedied precisely because the feds will not enforce the law. If the feds did a good job at preventing illegal border crossings, this would be a non-issue.

An illegal is an illegal no matter how you look at it. They have no business in this country and becoming a taxpayer's burden. At least some one is trying to do something about it. I comment the Governor of Arizona for not waiting around and taking matters into his own hands.

I will gladly 2nd your statement. The illegals have no business here period. Like you said they pay no taxes and they are getting free medical care while the American public struggles to have proper health care.

Let's perpetuate that profound misunderstanding of the Constitution and the laws of our land (made more hilarious because it's perpetuated by those that tend to identify themselves as strict Constitutionalists)

I work and taxes, thanks, and there is no way in hell I'm voting for one of the six Tea Bagger and/or Libertarian ignorant idiots running for Senate in the state of Kentucky. I will vote for a Democrat before I vote for one of those fools.

Only about 20% of Americans identify with the Republican party at this point. Some of the far right has joined many in the middle and far left to call themselves "Independents".

The numbers of older, white voters continue to decline in the US, while the demographic of younger, racially and culturally diverse, continues to expand.

The United States isn't going back to the glory years of the 1850's, or the 1950's. I know some are sad about that, but wake up, it's 2010.

The Governor of Arizona is a woman, and law is created, not by Governors, but by State legislators.

Seriously - there is a reason that sixth graders have to take a class about American history, our government, the Constitution, etc. It is supposed to make them educated, involved American citizens.

Did the Texas School Board finally eliminate the basic, "How our democratic government works" information from textbooks?, too?

There seems to be a subset of people that seem unhappy with how the voting majority of the citizens of this country have demonstrated they feel, and how the majority of their fellow citizens have voted over the past 10 years in deciding who will run this country, and with what goals those majority of citizens feel this country needs to attain.

That is how a democratic republic works.

If one isn't happy with what the majority of one's fellow citizens decided to do over the past 10 years, one's recourse isn't starting state militias to defend from the feds (our Constitution says state militias are under the control of the President, btw), it isn't inciting violence against elected officials or those legally going about their business, it isn't advocating overthrow of the federal government, it isn't violating our constitutional law - it's the voting box. Have at it.

BTW, many illegals have bogus social security numbers, and their payroll witholding tax rate is the same as yours for local, state and federal taxes.

What am I missing about this law? It is against the law to be here illegally, right? If a policeman pulls you over and suspects you're drunk, he acts accordingly. Nervous? Maybe he suspects drugs or a gun. So he requests a search. You can refuse any of those. Again, he will act accordingly. But there's a problem if he attempts to ascertain if you're breaking an immigration law? Why?

I completely agree with you. You have these liberals that are up in arms about the law being enforced. What is wrong with enforcing the law? That being said, I agree with Obama that reform is needed. It makes no sense to call people "illegal aliens" and then treat them as if they are totally legal.

If we need these immigrants here (and we probably do need most of them), then we should make it legal for them to be here. The current situation makes no sense. We call these people illegal aliens and then allow them to stay here. It makes no sense. If we are going to allow them to stay here, then we should make it legal for them to be here.
