Dubai World Cup Night Picks

here goes nothing

Al Quoz Sprint

1. California Flag - The best horse in this race, has shown he can travel and run well - this is a much less competitive field than in HK - he will be a tough nut to crack

2. Finjaan - This guy will be a really good sprinter this year, I'm a fan of 7f horses dropping back to sprinting - he will be finishing fast.

3. War Artist - A seriously good sprinter when on song, if you excuse his blip last time out, he has a big change

Godolphin Mile

1. Forgotten Voice - They got tactics wrong last time out when he ran too close to the pace - a very progressive horse who loves this All weather surface.

2. Desert Party - I still have my doubts to how he will perform here after his very pleasing reappearance. The class in the race but it may play to take him on.

3. Kalahari Gold - Peaking at the right time I feel.

UAE Derby

Not that competitive but an intriguing match up of Musir and Mendip. If Mendip wins, he will prove that he deserves to be in the starting gate in Louisville.

Dubai Golden Shaheen

I think it will be one of the first 3 in the betting - as all the hype has been on Rocket Man this week, Ill avoid him and back Gayego who we know loves the track, surface etc.. a safer investment IMO

Dubai Duty Free

I am loving this race. You can throw negatives around the whole field

1. Confront - Typical Stoute / Juddmonte horse improving with age (I find him similar in profile to Spanish Moon last year) - Trip will be absolutely perfect (nobody was finishing faster than him in HK), ground will be fine and Ryan Moore gets on very well with him. He is a big play IMO.

2. Presvis - I am probably his biggest fan, but do not underestimate how big a loss Ryan Moore is to him. This horse is a tricky ride - Fallon never got the best out of him, and despite Lemaires natural gift as a jockey, he will have to prove to me that he can cope with this ride - he will need balls of steel - He might well have them, but I prefer Confront

3. Bankable - He was a bit of a monkey in his early days but is more reliable now. Thoroughly professional comeback run and bound to improve for it - I dont think he'll be good enough though.

Of the others, Alexandros is the one who I cant see winning - yeah hes has a decent carnival, but he's tried G1 company 7 times before and never won, I cant see him winning today - Presvis beat him easily lto and Confront finished ahead of him in HK. Good Ba Ba will have to prove he can travel well (hasnt previously), same applies to the US horses.

Dubai Sheema Classic

Another very competitive race - a host in with chances

1. Spanish Moon - still underrated I think - he had a great 2009 - he probably found the tight turns of Santa Anita against him and ran a belter in HK only finding the Aga Khan filly Daryakana too good. He was beaten by a nose in this last year as a 14/1 outsider, he will put up a great show tonight.

2. Dar Re Mi - while others are all talking about Buena Vista, I prefer this filly. Like the top selection she had a great 2009 (and beat him in the BC Turf), she is well able to hold her own against colts. There is a chance she may need the run, but the Gosden team seem happy enough with her. She may be forgotten in the market.

3. Pan River - He'll run well at a big price. He's had a good carnival and while he has a (small) bit to find on Campanologist, I just this guys attitude and if they go very fast in front (Presious Passion should ensure this), he'llbe flying at the finish.

Of the others, Youmzain will get the pace he wants, but I cant back him at single figure odds - he ALWAYS finds things difficult here. Golden Sword was flattered by his runs last year, Presious Passion has to prove he can travel, Buena Vista has been hyped up too much, Mourilyan is a monkey but could squeak a place, Campanologist will have a good year but not tonight and Im still to be convinced that Bin Suroor knows how to properly train Cavalryman.

Dubai World Cup

1. Gitano Hernando - comes here with a very progressive curve - has a G1 in the bag on the all weather and has been training well. He is favourite on Betfair at the moment.

2. Gio Ponti - Has the best piece of all weather form with his 2nd to Zenyatta. I think he'll confirm placings over Twice Over

3. Gloria De Campeao - Runs well on anything - very underrated, he's shown up well on World Cup night before and is a great value play.

Best of Luck everyone.

DRF tote.

Al Quoz Sprint - I'm liking this 9 at 8-1. If I could actually bet these races before the OTB opens at noon I'd bet him to win and box w/ 3,5. Should I root for it to come in or not?

I'm surprised Cap OTB didn't open early?

Generous price on the winner IMO. I think Brock's bomb got up for 2nd...

Pat Cummings was big on Fravashi who finished 2nd. - winner confirmed HK form with California Flag - the latter never looked that comfortable during the race and looked a sitting duck but still ran on well enough for 3rd.

I agree although he was setting the pace, he didn't look very settled to me either.

He looks interesting at that price considering he crushed Eagle Mountain in his second career start. Too lazy to watch his last to figure out what went wrong since I can't bet it. . .
