Adagio claims?

Adagio is entered in the 9th at Gp on Wedn.. He lost by 4 lengths in the Grade I GPTurf Hcp in his last race on Feb. 6th, and the race before just missed for 50K after a troubled beginning. He had won his previous 4 races and 5 of his last 6. So the next logical step? He is entered for 15k. 2 questions how many claims and will he survive the race if he runs or is Dutrow just giving an early Xmas present to his fellow horseman?

It is a guarantee Rivelli, Catalano and Miller will all have claims on that horse if he does end up running because he will fit Arlington because he will then qualify for 16k starters up here.

MISTERGEE 03-15-2010 02:46 PM

You would think if the wheels havent fallen off he will win every race at that level

Since you've guaranteed it, I assume you will be very happy to give me 10:1 on the other side.

I'm not guaranteeing anything, but I'm almost certain you are dead wrong.

Ok, so used the wrong word of 'guarantee'. And I would never bet on something as stupid as this bet would be.

Those guys jump all over horses exactly like that, and I am sure you follow Illinois racing so closely you would know that. Gran Esteno comes to mind when claimed for 20 or 25k down at Gulfstream when he was being cut in half. Rivelli claimed that horse off of Dutrow I think, then he came here and romped and Stidham claimed him and won the Washington Park Handicap with him later in the meet.

Let me correct myself so we have to be so accurate, Gran Estreno was claimed for 20k after being dropped from 25k by Dutrow, then he romped up here and Stidham took him for 20k and moved him up the ladder.

I don't need to follow racing at Arlington even one bit to know that you are just typing.

Everyone understands why a horse has value as a claim, including Rick Dutrow, but they also understand why it might be dangerous to claim certain horses. Maybe Adagio is claimed, but then again, one might have thought the same thing when he ran twice for $25K, once in NY and once in NJ.

Hey, here's an idea, why don't you tell your boss to claim the horse....hell, he might not even have to win a shake to get this prize for those Arlington Starter Allowances. And, I'll tell my boss about these clever Starter races....as we gotta start running them in NY.

That isn't the type of horse that we claim, nor would we. The type of horse that we would have claimed ran yesterday at Philly in the 3rd race, and we passed.

Illinois guys don't claim in NY or NJ. But they do claim at Gulfstream, and have for years off of the NY guys dropping.

Oh, I get it, only those Illinois guys know about starter handicaps, and the NY and NJ guys are a bunch of dopes that missed out on a golden opportunity.

Thanks for clearing this up for me.

I WAS NEVER talking about NY or NJ guys. Everything is about the east coast for you. I was SIMPLY stating that those IL guys will claim a horse like this.

If the horse even runs, we'll see on Wednesday.

Does NY even run straight starter races, or are they conditioned?

This is clever.

You meant this as a joke....right?

This part was a joke, too....right?

Again, having to be SO clear, I should have mentioned that all starters have some sort of conditions. It was more me asking if they run them without nw conditions on them.

blackthroatedwind 03-15-2010 03:20 PM

Let's see, you don't know what kind of Starter races are run in NY, NJ, and I'll assume by extension the entire mid-Atlantic region, yet you figured it was just the Arlington trainers that would be clever enough to swoop in for this gem, but it is ME that only thinks about one region.

Good stuff dude.

Like I said....you're just typing.

Where did I say or 'figure' that it was just the Arlington trainers grabbing this guy?

Ok, fine....but shouldn't you have wondered why nobody jumped in on him before?

This is better than Tool Academy :tro:

He's had 3 races since he was in for 25k, a 35k win, just missed for 50k and the GR I four length loss. He is probably held together with rubber bands and paper clips but there will be many (whoever they are, and from where) who will be waiting in line for 15K

He is probably a cripple, I have no idea. These Arlington guys haven't had the opportunity to. Rather, they wouldn't have put the time or focus into claiming a horse from NY or NJ. It isn't like either of the three guys I mentioned claim out of NY or NJ, ever. They claim this horse on Wednesday and he comes up with the string next month, and he is probably out of jail by Arlington. And I am guessing that Dutrow knows this, and figured it was a great opportunity to pick up 16k for a horse that might have 1-2 races left. I don't know the inner workings. I barely follow the NY circuit let alone claiming habits of trainers.

Rivelli took Gran Estreno for 20k from down there, and Calabrese took a crippled Boundary horse off Tagg a couple years ago off the same situations. And there was another horse that Rivelli claimed off of Dutrow either last year or the year before in that range. They claim dropping cripples all the time and they run huge first start here, and they are running for 5k by the end of the meet.
