I have to say though ... I really love the silks.

You mean you don't think Stay Put and Lentenor should be in the Top 10?

Stay Put sucks, Lentenor might be ok. Do you really doubt that?

The little comments have a ton of false info....
Read the comment for horse 50.

Children ( on the internet ) should be unseen and not heard.

RockHardTen1985 03-08-2010 07:01 PM

unnecessary

It goes all the way down to #366. Why don't we all register and vote to move one of the bottom rung horses like Colonel Mustard to the top.

I think Slewis might be commenting there under the name Musket Man.

An amusing read. Thanks Drugs.

I've honestly seen some good ideas and concepts come from Travis and or Travis sites - this wouldn't be one of them. But damn .. they sure did take a bad idea and make it look colorful and smooth with that fan powered ranking thingy.

asudevil 03-08-2010 10:52 PM

Wish they did accurate homework on the silks.

Whether or not you think the Derby ranking is a good thing or a bad thing, the site is completely user-driven, so you have the chance to change or adapt it. The site is a horse racing wiki and allows users to essentially build the database over time, growing exponentially. I know I used it this year to post all the Dubai stakes race results.

An individual owner could go on there and do the same for his horses and it all connects. The ongoing additions to the site are building a great foundation for the future with past performances and historical info on one page. I think it adds value.

Wow. That's really something.

I think you need only scroll down to #28 to be able to fully write it off -- if you hadn't already done so by the time you hit #10.

I'm sure it does. I certainly wasn't knocking the site as a whole.

yes, theres like 4 horses in the top 10 or 15 that have no shot of even starting.

Guys - don't miss the point here. I think the purpose of the power ranking is to focus on the horses being most discussed or rated by users...log in and prop up your own picks to see the rankings change.

Travis Stone 03-09-2010 08:50 PM

Thanks for checking out the site everyone. The votes are entirely fan based, so as the poll gains traction and people vote the rankings will regulate themselves. I already see movement in horses from launch day to now which are making everything more realistic.

As for the site, it's growing by leaps-and-bounds... the inputs of our users and contributors are much appreciated, as it's all based on fan input.

If you haven't, check out the site... sign-up (free) and vote a few of your favorite horses... this is something new which, as it grows and regulates, will be far more interesting than polling twenty journalists (we hope!).

Think IMDB.com meets horse racing!

We built a flash silks creator when we launched the site. If you sign-up, you can create your own silks... unfortunately, because we were just getting started, we had to limit the various combinations of patterns. So, we tried to do the best we could and use all the common patterns (checkers, diamonds, sash, ball, square etc.). Some are off, but as the users point those out, we try and correct as best we can.
