The Oscars

This isn't about who you think will win (or i guess it can be, huh? :D ) but who, if anyone, are you rooting for?

I'm hoping The Hurt Locker wins best picture and every damned award its up for.

Anyone else?

Which film would you like to see win?

I just watched it Friday, if I had a ballot it would be my choice. Great ensemble cast including a terrific breakout performance by Jeremy Renner. He's still a close second behind Jeff Bridges in terms of Best Actor. I will be happy if Jeff Bridges wins, and I think it will be deserved. Chistoph Waltz I believe should and will win Best Supporting Actor for Inglorious Basterds. I wish I had seen more of the nominated films and performances this past year, I am lagging behind. Up In The Air is next on my list of films I want to see. Jason Reitman is one of the best young filmakers working today, I have very much enjoyed his previous pictures, and look forward to this one and others to come.

Yeah I'd have no problem if Jeff Bridges won but for supporting actor I'd like to see Stanley Tucci get it.

He was fantastic, as was Mo' Nique (sp).

I'm a fan of Tucci's work for sure loved him in Big Night years ago. But I've not had a chance to see Lovely Bones yet. Waltz to me stole every scene he was in. It was an amazing mixture of creepiness and charm, it was too exellent not to get the award IMO.:)

no one is a "close" 2nd to bridges for best actor. he's the single if you're trying to hit an oscar pick 6.

it's an interesting year though. if they got rid of the gender concept, he might not have been nominated at all for best performance. the women are unbelievably strong this year. i don't remember there ever being a better set of nominee's top to bottom for lead actress. i can't imagine any of them losing.

He's odds on I'll give you that.:p He was outstanding and deserves the award.

An overlooked performance......

I wanted to mention a performance I felt deserved a nomination. Michael Stuhlbarg was wonderful in the Coen Brother's A Serious Man. A very funny dark comedy, IMO.

I hope they all lose.

Danzig 03-07-2010 08:08 PM

i haven't watched an oscar show in years. or any of the award shows for that matter....i know, i'm just a wet blanket.

Agreed.

In those clips of Sandra Bullock's performance, she can't even stay in the accent she's supposed to be using. I didn't see that movie. Guess it's a feel good. Would rather try the Brooklyn Cops thing.

She is absolutely atrocious. She has never been good (or even competent) in any movie she has ever been in. The fact that she won a Golden Globe and an Oscar this year is a complete joke.
What's next....merasmag wins a pulitzer?

Its funny I was wondering if she is ok a couple weeks ago. Came across as a good lady but has a similiar issue as some of us.

Best part was when that Lady(in purple) came on, and interrupted that guy (while he was accepting an award.) Was thinking that could of been one of the 2 women Ronan Tynan didn't want in the apartment next to him.

DJARUM 03-08-2010 03:20 PM

Personally I think it was a weak bunch,
agree with Bridges and the supporting actress role (Precious)
Best picture, who you gonna give it to, this year a women director..
first time, that's the academy..
IMO, I enjoyed very few movies this year, none deserved an Oscar
for Best Picture!
