Conservative vs Progressive

This is interesting ... of course, what matters is who wins the election, not the primary.

Arkansas Senate race:

Bill Halter Running For Arkansas Senate: Progressive Democrat To Challenge Blanche Lincoln

Conservative Democrat Blanche Lincoln (D-Ark.), whose obstinacy during the health care reform process was so frustrating to the progressive community, is officially getting a primary challenge.

Arkansas lieutenant governor, Bill Halter, announced that he would launch a campaign to dislodge Lincoln from her Senate seat.

The race is likely to become a proxy battle for the larger debate within the Democratic Party between progressives who believe sticking to core values is the best way to win office and the self-styled pragmatists who argue that they must adopt more conservative positions when running in traditionally more conservative states.

The firm Research 2000 did a poll on this prospective primary battle back in December. And the numbers showed a fairly tough landscape for a primary challenger. Forty-two percent of respondents said they would back Lincoln in a Democratic primary. Twenty-six percent said they'd back Halter. Thirty-two percent were undecided.

UPDATE: A host of progressive groups -- including Progressive Change Campaign Committee, Moveon.org, Democracy for America and Daily Kos -- are launching a fundraising drive on Halter's behalf. The goal has been set for $500,000 to be raised in one week.

UPDATE -- 7:45 PM ET: DailyKos.com founder Markos Moulitsas says that he and several other progressive organizations, including MoveOn.org, have already met their first-week fundraising goal of $500,000 for Halter about 7 hours after Halter announced his Senate run.

Everything she does is to satisfy Conservatives. So, get a Republican in there. If a Parasitic Dem is in there, it just creates false expectations. That's exactly what took place. All she did is fk with the President's head for a year. That's what Nelson, Landrieu, Lieberman, Bayh, and Lincoln all did. Just fk with the guy's head, and result in him having to tailor everything to the Conservatives in their lil bush states. So, no, I don't want them in there. I want them all defeated. I want a Dem who will support the Pres., or a Republican who won't support him. If we had that to begin with, he wouldn't of had to tailor every fkn bill to the needs of those damn lil bush states. That's been his cancer (not the Republicans.) OBA, bro, the majority of these white people in Louisiana, Indiana, Nebraska, and Arkansas are not for you. Been wasting your 1st year trying to get them to like you. Stop that stupid sht. There, again, yesterday he plays the part of a House Negro, n' backs Lincoln. After she did nothing but betray him. You tried this. It didn't work. Stop. Nobody is going to deal one bit with you. You never punish. Why would they deal? You're too fkn weak to make them pay. Keep taking their sht. Play the part you so love.

the above is why 'democrat' and 'republican' aren't really good tags to throw around. they're not one size fits all. people in this state, for the most part, defy definition-in a variety of ways.

many here are very religious, so they don't go for gay marriage, abortion rights...they are anti-gun control, another conservative stance. but they're huge pro-union folks, which is definitely something non-republican. also, a lot of folks down here are on entitlements, since the area, for the most part, is rather depressed economically. that probably is caused by lack of education, as a lot of folks here are pretty blase about learning much.

the reason lincoln is possibly going out of office is because she supported obama, not because she didn't back her party. she voted for the health legislation, she also voted for the big spending package to jump start the economy and keep us from going to 10% unemployment.
now, she's trying to backpedal and throw on a more conservative mantle, and it's backfiring on her right now. i never thought til the last few months that she'd have a hard time keeping her seat.

Should pay them extra to keep their seeds unplanted.

Oh, sure. She constantly said she wouldn't support a public option. Constantly forced him to tailor the bill to favor insurance companies. Just get a Republican in there, and stop this stupid fake sht. It'a a backwards Conservative State. So be it. In the 40's, my Dad saw a Black teenager get beat to a pulp by a cop there. Just was loitering too much. OBA didn't win that state(at all.) Should just let that state go Republican, and move on. These Conservative Dem Parasites are useless to him. You would think he'd see that they ruined his 1st year. He's so damn blind (when obvious stuff is right there in front of him.) This Lady is no DEM. Nelson is no DEM. Mary is actually a DEM, but she's gunna act whatever way she thinks she needs to act(to stay senator.) She's from a power hungry family that has no core (looking for whatever side is buttered.)

Oh, let me at that crooked Miss Mary Landrieu. Never forget her excuse for that 300mil "Louisiana Purchase." Look at that load from 0:32-1:12. It is just amazing. She is really selling that turd. She really think that's gunna fly? She was a real estate agent. I can sure see why. She said that the 300 mil wouldn't be enough to get her vote (as she giggles.) Too funny, honey. She's like saying she could of done better. So, don't accuse her of selling for that sht amount. She is something else. Aren't you suppose to at least deny it's for sale? 1:08-1:11 is 100% Classic Miss Mary.
