Bloodhorse Impersonation

Sorry - but I just finished reading through a chat and now I have to take it out on you guys.

* Aikenite: INCREDIBLY gifted horse that's stakes placed on both dirt and synthetics .. AND is stakes placed in both sprints and routes. Wow! Such an amazingly versatile animal.

* American Lion: What a very, very, very, very good horse!! Only took him 3 starts to win a Graded Stakes. And wow was his performance spectacular last weekend!! A super 3rd off the layoff. He sooooo needed the race. Expect HUGE things!

* Buddy's Saint: You can NEVER say anything bad about a horse who has done nothing wrong. But - what do you say about a horse who has won all three times ... three words .... BEST HORSE EVER!?!?!?!

* Concord Point: He won a maiden race as a first time starter on opening day of Santa Anita ... that is the sign of a VERY talented horse. You have to be so special to do that. I wouldn't be surprised if he wins 8 Grade 1's later on. While some might say that his one try against winners was a let down - it was really a VERY good race.

* Conveyance: You can NEVER say anything bad about a horse who has done nothing wrong. But - what do you say about a horse who has won all three times ... three words .... BEST HORSE EVER!?!?!?!

* Dave in Dixie: What an AMAZING animal. When he won his debut at Del Mar.. the first thought that popped in my head was Champion 2-year-old, Champion 3-year-old, Horse of the Year as 4-year-old, Leading Freshman Sire, Greatest sire ever, Heroic tragic death after he jumps over his stallion farm fence - runs into a burning school - and rescuses 80 kids before burning to a crips. The nation falls in love with him just like with Barbaro.

GREAT 2nd place finish off of his layoff. He needed that race. Look for BIG things.

* Drosselmeyer: How about the spanking he gave a GOOD horse in Prince Will I Am last time? WOW!!! And you know he LOVES Churchill Downs because he won an off-the-turf maiden race there! Loves the Derby track, will love the Derby distance, but how much will he love the Derby winner circle? It can sometimes be a stressful place for a horse. We will find out after he wins the Derby. Can't wait.

* Dryfly: He won his debut race at Philly Park. He won the Smarty Jones stakes at Oaklawn. Coincidence? Hardly! With Jerry Bailey now safely retired - I think he will do what Smarty couldn't.. win the Belmont and sweep the Triple Crown!

Etc. Etc.

VOL JACK 02-19-2010 03:34 PM

make it stop.

The Indomitable DrugS 02-19-2010 03:38 PM

Better yet .... make them bet.

VOL JACK 02-19-2010 03:54 PM

they will have their 2 across the board.

The Indomitable DrugS 02-19-2010 04:03 PM

They have an axe to grind with competent handicapping.

It's all about liking horses, loving horses, and liking other horses more.

I joke how Haskin says something nice about 400 different 3-year-olds in his Derby Trail columns ... but at least he puts forth an effort to mention some legit handicapping factors.

That chat was something else.

freddymo 02-19-2010 04:57 PM

Haskins has never had a bad word about any horse. Apparently they are ALL sitting on a big one?

eajinabi 02-19-2010 05:00 PM

I disagree with the Jerry Bailey remark.

It wasn't Haskin I was lampooning here ... I'll leave that to a pro like Tomo.

But yeah, Haskin is also the king of making low profile pedigrees sound way better than they are...

"although Caracortado has been branded with the Cal-bred moniker, his pedigree is predominantly Kentucky blue blood."

I forgot to thank you for sharing your log-in with me.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I've got to run to Subway and buy another freebie $5 footlong with the money I made from stiffing you a fortune on a 21K horse I bought partly for myself that was RNA'd for 19K two months prior and worked much better the 2nd time.

I've lost respect for the Paulick report.Home of the witch hunters. Also, his site is nothing but links to other mags, sites, etc. So they do all the work and reporting and he just provides links. Now I wonder if he is sharing his advertising revenue with the sites he links to.He bitches about companies like TVG and Youbet not sharing their revenue with the tracks, yet he is doing the exact same thing they are doing.

Don't know. There is no magazine that I know of.Ray just sits in Lex and provides links and the occasional commentary to stir up the pot.

I could be COMPLETELY wrong.. but I just dont see how a horse racing website could make much money through advertising. Obviously a site like equibase, brisnet, drf, and the youbets of the world could make money because people pay for info.. But I would assume a Paulick report, or equidaly or stuff like that would be more of a service for the customers than a money maker. Just not much of a reading base out there..
