Alabama

How did the race look guys?

HA HA! I be moving on up Whorstman!

Pine island looked brilliant. Once she was set down for the drive with a furlong left it was over. WLA bounced, adieu continued her cycle of good race bad race good race bad race.

SCUDSBROTHER 08-19-2006 04:48 PM

WLA looking more n' more like she is a Belmont-loving young lady.Nothing wrong with that.I have seen her full of run 2x,and both those races were at Belmont.

Man Castellano is lucky he gets Pine Island cause Johnny V rode one for Pletcher, I wonder if he gave Johnny a high 5 when he got back to the Jockeys Room, make that a low 5 , what there jockeys man:D

Pedigree Ann 08-19-2006 08:16 PM

Wonder Lady Anne L's best stakes runs have been on off tracks. The mud at Belmont gave her an advantage she didn't have at Saratoga. Moreover, a one-turn 10f is a different race from a two-turn 10f. Too bad the CCA Oaks isn't still 12f like it used to be - Pine Island would have eaten that up.

Pine island was just hitting her stride.

Teammate shocked me- she ran great, pressed most of the way by a longshot and just succumbing to a very good filly. Don't know why she didn't show up in her last few races; when she wants to run, she's good.

I totally agree. As much as I like Pine Island, I thought Teammate definitely ran the bigger race.. She was pressed throughout, ran some very quick fractions and still went on tremendously to be 8 1/2 clear of third.. She's a very strange filly, but obviously when she's right, she's a big-time runner.

I hadn't thought about it, but the recap from BRIS (really the Spa report) indicated that Teammate is 0-5 at Belmont............Belmont seems like such a fair track, it's hard to believe that any horse could take such a dislike for it, but I guess she does. I really thought she had it, but I tried not to think about the race too much afterwards because then I'd be frustrated. The whole first part of the race, I was rather annoyed at Pyramid of Love or whatever that longshot's name was. Well, hopefully I will be a tad happier next week after the Travers.

Azeri hated Belmont.

actually, 'big sandy' as belmont is called seems to give many horses trouble. of course the ones who like it, LIKE IT...silver train and easy goer immediately come to mind.

i'm thrilled that pine island won, i was off by one race, as i thought she'd win her last. great effort by her, congrats to shug and the phippses.

shugs on a bit of a roll--anyone looking any harder at good reward for tomorrow??

She runs her best races at two turns on a fast track. It was no surprise she ran a very good race in the Bama. It doesn't hurt to have the Chief training her at the Spa either.
