Boston slapped around like a ho

Great game by the Sox this afternoon, that was pretty hysterical.

Gander 08-18-2006 07:40 PM

LOL, prety awful, they played like Flower Alley ran 2 weeks ago. But 1 loss is 1 loss, no matter how many you lose by.

SCUDSBROTHER 08-18-2006 07:56 PM

Lester a mess in 2nd game.Tavarez(d white flag) warming up.

SCUDSBROTHER 08-18-2006 08:06 PM

As long as Ponzon is on the mound,Sox have a shot to rally back.

SCUDSBROTHER 08-18-2006 11:17 PM

Ugly 7 on THE BOARD.SUPPOSE TO GIVE THAT UP IN A GAME(NOT AN INNING.)

oracle80 08-19-2006 12:36 AM

Yankees humiliated them today in their own park. Scored 26 runs in two games and got away with starting Ponson. Red Sox have to be completely demoralized. They now know that if they sweep the next three games that they will still trail the Yanks, ouch. Torre got away with starting Ponson and now its Johnson, Mussina, and Wright. Cano is the stud I railed on about for all that time he was hurt. He makes all the difference. God help the rest of the league if we get back Sheffield. That will just be silly.

Gander 08-19-2006 06:03 AM

Demoralizing, yes but if we win these next 3, we'll be moralized!
Last night was painful to watch.

Hey, tomorrow at least I can relax and root for Tiger and the Lava Man, 2 of the greatest stories in their respective sports. Thats at least a beam of light on this otherwise very depressing Saturday morning.

Betsy 08-19-2006 08:09 AM

Robby Cano is a terrific player - it's a shame he missed so much time this year. So much for the Yankee farm system not producing anything......and what about Melky? The kid is terrific and plays with such energy.......and now leads the league in outfield assists.....I'd really like to find a way for him to be a starter next year, but I don't see any way that's possible, not with Matsui coming back.

Gander 08-19-2006 09:07 AM

I'm liking a repeat in the World Series between the White Sox and Astros more and more each day. The White Sox lead the wildcard and the Astros are only 4 back now in their wildcard chase. I look for these 2 teams to be playing longer than anybody else.

Gander you are letting your dislike of the Yankees interfere with your interpretation of reality. The Yankees have the most incredible hitting lineup I have seen in baseball. Face it, if they get either Sheffield or Matsui back its just gonna be even more insane. They just mentally and physically exhaust pitchers. There is noone to pitch around. Every out is a struggle and once they get something going in an inning they score bursts of runs that demoralize another team. The Yankees are world series bound.

SCUDSBROTHER 08-19-2006 11:57 AM

Back to reality here. The score was 14-10 because you both got shtty pitchin'.Let me enlighten folks here about this grand mystery of why the Angels(a team 5 games over .500)can hang with the YANKS.The Halos have got very good starters.Yes,they are weak- minded lazy people, but when they have a chance to beat the most popular team in America, they can do it 50-60% of the time. The Halo hitting is easily stopped by very good starting pitching(something you don't have.)

Equation:

Very good starter for Halos can go 6- 7 innings ,and tie up mighty Yank bats + ........Average

starter for Yanks(can't keep Halos from getting 2-5 runs)=Halo win

Yeah, you can go through Boston's shtty pitching, and outslug them, but can you beat a good starter? Not usually. You had the starting pitching in the glory years of the 90's.You are kid'n yourself if you think Too Fong Woo,Wright,Johnson,Mussina etc. are good enough to hold up in a pitcher's duel. They aren't.You will get beat in the post by a team with better starters.

somerfrost 08-19-2006 03:33 PM

13-5 Yankees so far today after Cano's three run blast...this is a tail-whoopin' by any measure!

Downthestretch55 08-19-2006 03:37 PM

Boston should have sent out their pitcher with a white flag in the first inning.
They are getting seriously embarrassed.

LOL!
I'm not quite that passionate about it. I know a few people that love Boston.
I don't "hate" them.
I've just been a Yankee fan since I was a kid.

Always amazes me when people act like the Yankees did something that is hard to do.Folks,it isn't.O.K.? LOL..My God people, they used 7 guys in that game that make over 10 million a year.Boston used 1(tomorrow they will use 2.) I think the series has been a let down .Boston's pitching has been off against most teams lately.I only saw Beckett and Del Carmen walking guys, and then I turned away from the one-sided mess.Ump's strike zone was pretty tight on some of Beckett's pitches. An ump that has a narrow zone like that always is the last thing people should want to watch.Del Carmen was a different story(almost all obvious balls.) The Yanks are really only beatable one way(a good starter coming to pitch.)Boston got 5 runs today, and 10 runs last night. That means Yank pitching is average. If they run into a top pitcher, they will get beat 5-2 etc.Didn't we see that a couple times last weekend?

I'm far from a Yankee fan but I appreciate good players and good teams...the Yankees are a good team with good players! The tired argument that they buy championships is simply sour grapes...the Mets don't have 26 titles (OK, they haven't been around as long but you get my point), the Yankees have the money partly because they are in a major market but largely because of their winning history! Compare their history to major market teams like the White Sox, Cubs, Dodgers etc. Also, they bring some pretty good players up through their farm system...Cano anybody?? Boston could have had A-Rod but they backed down, they also sold a fair pitcher to the Yanks awhile back, what was his name? Babe something??? I think he went on to have a decent career and hit a few home runs! I'm a Twins fan so I have every right to resent the Yankees, instead I appreciate what George does, it is good for baseball and gives a lot of angry and frustrated folks something to hate!

Legal cheating. That's all it is.They get to have all the good players, and then cry loud as can be when their little all star bunch of hitters beat up on soft pitching. The only thing I don't understand about it is the feeling of accomplishment some feel when a 215 mil team beats a team spending usually half as much.Out of hand, and they will never get my respect for buying a playoff spot.It is a f'n joke.Don't now why they let the sport get so bastardized as this:

1. NY Yankeees 215,662,180
2. Boston 120,100,524
3. LA Angels 103,625,333
4. Chicago Sox 102,875,667
5. NY Mets 100,901,085
6. LA Dodgers 99,176,950
7. Chicago Cubs 94,841,166

but, what is pathetic is to gloat about your $215 million team being able to beat other teams..Oh f'n really? You get to have all these great players to hit,and gee f'n whiz ya beat people??? What an accomplishment. Can't f'n believe it happens that way.I wonder why that would just tend to happen that way?Hey,how about we give some teams 4 outs every couple of innings too.Cuz,hell they are in a bigger market, and they want to win.
