Sam Houston question

Has anyone been there to the Races or know the area at all, we are sending a horse there tomorrow that is running Sat night (John Connally Turf H).

Any Recommendation On Places to Stay, eat, Etc would Greatly Be Appreciated.

If you get a chance...Try not to miss eating at "Taste of Texas" off of Wilcrest and I-10.. Great Texas atmosphere and fantastic food... It is a bit pricey, but well worth it.

It's only about 20 minutes (if that) from the track off Beltway 8.

First of all I wish you all the best in the race! I hope you win it! Whats the horses name?

I live in Houston and have gone to SHRP several times. Avoid staying near the airport. Woodlands and Sugarland are great places to stay but if you want to stay in some of Houston best hotels (expensive) then Galleria area is the place for you.

There are great places to eat all over Houston but a high concentration of diverse foods is probably in the Rice Village near Rice University.

I hope you enjoy your stay!

Brand new hotel, 2 blocks from the Galleria, Westheimer and Yorktown, called the Aloft. 99.00 weekend rate....

Galleria is a nice area, but a bit heavy with traffic... My suggestion is to just stay in a nice hotel off 290 or by the airport which is only 20 minutes away.

I suggested the Hilton Garden Inn Northwest which is off of 249 and 1960. It's about ten minutes from SHRP and is rated well by TripAdvisor for the entire city.
