Jerry Moss just said....

"Rachel run in restricted races all year except once."
WTF does he think those stakes that Zenyatta was running in all year where?

He was visibly bitter during Jackson's acceptance speech - I can understand his disappointment, but if he wants to end the debate, it certainly sounded like Jackson was open to a discussion.

Moss should have seen this coming and run in the Jockey Club Gold Cup. But that might entail having to leave SoCal and running on real dirt.

All of Rachel's races were restricted to 3-year-olds, except the Woodward.

Phalaris1913 01-18-2010 09:53 PM

Seven of the eight races Rachel ran in, Zenyatta could not have entered. Rachel could have run in every one of the races Zenyatta ran in.

He should've said that RA ran against horrible fillies, mediocre 3yo colts, and bad older horses all year … then stayed in the barn on Championship Saturday.

Oh yeah, and Zenyatta was beating some of the best Allowance Fillies and Mares that Cali had to offer.

The Indomitable DrugS 01-18-2010 10:03 PM

All of Favorite Trick's races were VERY restricted when he was beating up on horrendous competition like Dawson's Legacy and Nationalore in moderate time....

All while Skip Away ran 10 Beyers of 115 or more that year - including a 6 length win in the Breeders Cup Classic for one of his three figs of 120 or more that year.

Not to mention the spectacular Silver Charm beat incredibly high quality fields in the Derby and Preakness - and Formal Gold ran 3 of the most amazing races you'll ever see.

He said it's too early for Rachel since she hasn't had a serious workout yet.

Would not surprise me if she came up with a mysterious injury

Lol … yeah, that BCC field was just filled with "allowance fillies and mares".

GenuineRisk 01-18-2010 10:13 PM

Whatever. I'm just glad I don't have to listen anymore to Jerry Bailey whining about how Rachel didn't run in the Travers.

I was comparing the WHOLE YEAR...not a single race.
It was a great performance.
As was the Haskell that RA thrashed Munnings and Summer Bird.

The problem was Rachel Alexandra was too busy making racing history to try playing mere spoiler to Zenyatta's carpeted road towards an unbeaten record.

Put it this way. If they had met up in one of those races, win or lose, Zenyatta would not have run in the BC Classic.

The way I see it, Jess Jackson helped Zenyatta make racing history, too.
