Oracle- Yanks

They really could have stuck the dagger in us and been up 3 games instead of 1 1/2. Man, you must be scratching your head. A team this great losing 2 in a row, including a masacre today to the lowly Orioles?

I told you strength of schedule means zilch in baseball. Zilch. One team will win that division and it wont because of who they played. It will be because of how well they played.

Tim thats about the dumbest thing you ever said. Ever. You really believe that who you play doesnt matter? Wow!!! You better get out to Vegas Tim and bring a wheel barrow!!! You are gonna be the man!!! Those oddsmakers who have been setting lines(and winning the house money every year) use who the team plays as a basis for setting the line!! LOL!!!
Tim you are being delusional if you think that playing very good teams is as easy over a 40 game stretch as playing bad ones. You keep talking about this dagger. face it, you are done. You had us without 4 starters for most of the year. And no matter what you do tonight you will still wake up in 2nd place. Even if you win tonight you have to take 3 outta 5 at your place just to get into a tie.

dalakhani 08-17-2006 07:13 PM

Strength of schedule is a HUGE criteria in predicting long term success. The only advantage that the Sox have is that they have more home games left.

Epstein really **** the bed at the deadline and now Sox fans will be sleeping in it until October.

Gander 08-17-2006 07:16 PM

Red Sox play better against better teams. Go through their results, you will see what I mean. Same thing with the White Sox.

Mike, you said 2 days ago the Yankees would take the last 2 from Baltimore and the Red Sox would split the last 2 with the Tigers (they actually only played one, today is an off day). You said there was no way the Red Sox would get to 2 games by the time they played the weekend, you actually said it would be 4.

Now its 1 1/2 and we have you guys the day after you stumbled around like drunken sailors losing to Baltimore in front of 55K Yankee fans. LOL! I like our chances.

Spoken like a true Sox fan! I love it!

That pitching staff is being held together with needle and thread. When you are rolling out the fat daddy with his ancient back and his twenty rolls, you know you are in trouble.

Gander 08-17-2006 07:21 PM

You care to make a wager on this 5 game series?

I didnt think so.

Gander 08-17-2006 07:22 PM

Your talking like the Yankees have a great starting rotation. They're just as vulnerable.

odds? you are the home team

Gander 08-17-2006 07:24 PM

Straight up. $50. You guys are so much the better team and you even get to face "thefat daddy with his ancient back and his twenty rolls". That should be odds enough for you. $50. What do you say?

You think? hmmmmm. Lets see.

Yankees five

mussina
johnson
wang
wright
lidle

Sox five

schilling (got some more ketchup for that ankle?)
beckett (good young pitcher but is the american league starting to figure him out)
Lester (keeper...fine young pitcher but is he ready for the yanks?)
jason johnson (you know you are in trouble when you are trotting out O's castoffs)

Fat daddy (43 years old and 400 pounds?)

which staff is more vulnerable?

Both of these teams act like they are on Chemo.I think the same thing will happen in the post that happened last year.Boston and/or Yanks will get knocked off in the American League playoffs by teams with better pitching(CHISOX,DETROIT,A'S.)I know the Yanks will make the post though. They always seem to make it interesting(getting to the playoffs ,)but they always keep coming back like the ferrocious roaches that they are.Have they not already looked dead multiple times this year?(only to come right back like rich kids cramming the night before an important test.)

As much of a Yank fan as i am, I have to somewhat agree with you here. Pitching wins in the playoffs and if the Yanks cant get consistent pitching from anyone but Mussina and Wang (i know he got shelled the other day but he has been pretty consistent) then they will have serious problems against the better rotations like minnesota's or the deeper ones like the one in Chitown if they can get in. The A's i really dont worry about. Detroit i havent seen enough of to form a good opinion on.

OH BOY,you would be surprised what goes on out on the West Coast when you guys hit the sack at 10 p.m.Don't take Oakland lightly. They are playin' by far the best ball in the league right now.I have been the unfortunate witness to it all. They have turned into Demons, and you will all soon see this.

Tim this is the most ignorant argument I ever heard.
Are you telling me that you would rather play the Yanks 40 more games than the Royals 40 times? Tim please, you are using irrelevant short term data to try and make a non existent already proven otherwise point. Easier schedule is an advantage, not a pre determiner, but if you are saying it doesnt matter thats just crazy.

2 Dollar Bill 08-18-2006 10:28 AM

Sounds like everyone is ready to strap them on, put the black stuff under the eyes... and .""Lets Play Two..today "" (E.Banks) !!!

SCUDSBROTHER 08-18-2006 02:37 PM

That f'n gazelle on the mound(Ponson)gets a start? My belly muscles are recovered yet from the last time I saw him trying to field a ball.It hurts to laugh that much.
