They better break Make Music For Me's maiden soon. Go to Golden Gate if you have to.

He's quickly approaching Nationalore status.

Why?

He seems to perform better in Grade 1 and Grade 2 stakes than in maiden races.

He's got a long way to go to catch Nationalore.

He's got the cash to go to the Derby. Just work up to it.

It'll go a long way into helping him actually win one of those big races.

I was shocked that they even ran in the Cashcall because it seemed like they were "doing the right thing" when skipping the BC. The plan came undone when he flopped in the maiden, but they went ahead anyways and tossed him in the Cashcall.

His suck up effort (I applaud Mike Smith if his actual intention was to ride conservatively and garner another placing--he couldn't have possibly figured on the win end) to reel in Baffert's B-squad only encourages his connections for continuing this naive path.

Its a shame really, cuz his trainer comes from a good racetrack background (Gosden, Gregson) but is risking blowing a rare opportunity with a good horse by mismanaging that will only end in further defeat or worse yet, the horse being transfered to another barn.
