Bad crash at Sam Houston - any info?

There was a bad crash in Sam Houston's 6th last night. The first horse - leading in the stretch - took a bad step (broke down) but didn't go down, dumping Domingo Chacaaltona (sp?) in the dirt in front of the field and galloping off. Two other horses then went down by tripping over Domingo. The other two jocks were Chris Landeros and Jorge Guzeman. I saw one jock crawling off under the rail. Domingo and the other jock were not moving. It was pretty bad-looking. I can't find anything. I hope they are okay.

Domingo Chacaltana off his only mount tonight in race 2. Jorge Guzman off of all his (5) mounts. Chris Landeros is riding.

A friend of mine had to find another jockey for their horse who was running later on the card after their jock went down. He didn't say how the jockey was, but one of the horses that tripped was reported to be ok.

Any update on this? I also saw the race and would like to know how the horses and jockeys fared.

All three jockeys were OK. Jorge Guzman took it the worst and was treated at a local hospital for a few busted teeth and a broken nose. Chacaltana and Landeros walked back to the jocks' room on their own power.

Thanks, glad they were not seriously hurt.

Some sport where a broken nose and loss of teeth is "not seriously hurt". Brave guys, jocks.

The horse that fell on the lead had to be euthanized.
