Bloodhorse poll

Afleet Alex Barbaro ( ) Bernardini Curlin Ghostzapper Invasor Lost in the Fog ( ) Mineshaft Point Given Smarty Jones Street Sense (Are you f'n kidding? At least the other two died & had rabid fan bases.) Tiznow What's clearly most amusing though .... is that Curlin is in 1st place - and Mineshaft is in 11th place. Invasor is in 4th place .. and he would have got crushed by Mineshaft. I'm not even sure Invasor could have beat the blah pre-lasix version of Mineshaft. Best of all... Lost in The Fog is ahead of Bernardini and Mineshaft. Lost in the Fog's only lifetime Grade 1 win came in the King's Bishop .. he got 7fs in 1:22.56 ... the same exact day, a 2yo first time starter (Discreet Cat) won a MSW race in 1:09.76 (a better final time & thus earning a better figure) LITF's only Grade 1 win came at the expense of Social Probation and Better Than Bonds... in time slightly slower than that turned in by a 2yo debuter over the same track ... and he's supposed to be better than Bernardini and Mineshaft? It would be a wonderful thing if someone could supply the people voting in that poll with huge betting vouchers and force them to bet. |
if that's the one where you can give your version and then they tell you theirs...i had curlin way down on the list, but still ahead of a few of the others. top three were tiznow, gz and mineshaft i believe.

If they added two more undeserving ones to the list ... Perfect Drift and Evening Attire ... I'd have them both at least four or five spots off of the bottom.
Perfect Drift and Evening Attire are kind of like this decades equine two George Foremans .. you had a version of those two as a 4yo .. that could have just crushed about half of the horses on that list going a route of ground. Those were the glory years when they were knocking Joe Frazier's into submission. Eveing Attire upsetting Street Cry at 65/1 odds late in his 3yo season. Romping by 3 lengths in the Jockey Club Gold Cup with a 114 Beyer as a 4yo. Perfect Drifit .. a horse I bet in the Derby at 3 - and a horse who was an absolutely awesome 4yo on dirt. The Evening Attire that would always walk out of the gate - but was still good enough to win a 250K stake race by 8 lengths in his final start as a 10yo. The Perfect Drift who eventually refused to win - but was still decent enough to get beat less than 3 lengths in a Grade 1 race as a 9yo, on a surface that he totally hated (turf) ... those were like the fat and comical version of George Foreman - selling mufflers and grills but still good enough to be halfway competitve with most of the best fighters around at almost age 50. Steet Sense is 12th and last - only horse ahead of Mineshaft. I think he was put in there as a joke or something. Despite being recent, they can't even fool the Barbaro and LITF horsey lover crowd into thinking he was that good. |
the fillies and mares list from last week is pretty interesting also...
|
No Alaazo? Pffffffffthhhhhhhh.
|
Where did Point Given finish on that list?

One spot below Smarty Jones... one above Afleet Alex. |

They included Proud Spell but not Riboletta. If you compare the form of those two horses side-by-side ... bettors would make Riboletta 1/9 against her. Riboletta ran several races in the 2000 season that would destroy Ginger Punch on her best day as well. |

Yeah - Sightseek was one of a few mares that Frankel trained this decade that was a much better horse than Ginger Punch. Amazing she was left off. Wild Spirit ... my favorite Frankel female (who Kaspet somehow excluded from an old poll about favorite Frankel females I see) was also much better than Ginger Punch. |

how bout Saint Liam as better than at least one of those, won 4 grade 1, and a grade 2, placed in 7 other grade 2 or 3, won about $4.5 mill
|
No candy ride, mdo or...Congaree?
any of those was better than street sense. Congaree deserves more credit than he gets. He had a great career and was a fine racehorse. |

Candy Ride was probably the best horse of the decade, male, female, turf or dirt. |
The Blood Horse 11 (throw out LITF) all race in October at Belmont going 9 furlongs. Scale weights. Afleet Alex, Barbaro, Bernardini, Point Given, Smarty Jones, and Street Sense are all 3yos. For the rest, take your pick of their best season.
Who wins? |

Wouldn't be surprised by a Barbaro win though. |
