Uganda Debates Death Penalty For Homosexuals

In Uganda, they are currnetly debating legislation that would impose the death penalty on homosexuals. In addition, family and friends could face up to 7 years in prison for failing to report them to authorities. Even landlords would go to jail for renting to gays.

If they do this, any civilized country should cut off funding towards Uganda.

SOREHOOF 12-09-2009 07:26 AM

Uganda has never exactly been known for human rights.

miraja2 12-09-2009 09:58 AM

This isn't all that shocking, and it isn't like only people in Uganda feel that way. After all, a current member of Derbytrail.com called for all homosexuals to be executed awhile ago....and not in a vague way. He just came out (no pun intended) on this site and openly called for all homosexuals to be killed.

Just out of curiosity, why do you exempt South Africa from your otherwise continent-wide damnation?

We'd better cut off funding to some areas of the United States, too.

Thats just a low blow and not right and insulting to this country.

Its not like the KKK is a recognized group. They dont get federal funding. The Churches dont want to see gay marriage passed because they think their book should determine what a marriage is. That is a little bit different than the death penalty or prison for friends and family of homosexuals.

Sure maybe the Morman Church should lose funding because of supporting Prop 8 but that isnt even comparable to the Uganda situation and is insulting to even be compared.

Sure, a very small amount of people in the US may want gays dead.. but you kill a gay person and you are going to jail for the rest of your life, not given a parade.

Sorry if I'm sounding upset but the USA is not an evil country like you make it out to be. I may not be able to get married but I can be open and free and proud and employed and loved and not have to worry about being killed. Big difference and insulting to the gays in Uganda.
