Slots Success

Got to play golf with someone in the Harness business who confirmed to me that Yonkers has been killing it since slots came aboard and now the Meadowlands is asking YR for help. YR asked for help from the Meadowlands a few years ago and got none , now the shoe is on the other foot.

How long will the Meadowlands last , who knows , unless the state allows slots they could become history pretty soon

Not sure what the normal attendance is, but I'm guessing it's not a hell of alot more for a Tuesday afternoon. Not to mention that the weather was pretty crappy all day. Also the not so new sports bar/OTB Favorites in Woodbridge probably hurts the attendance too. The place is really really nice.

Thats what you get when you run races on tuesdays. Racing should be Friday, Saturday, Sunday.

MISTERGEE 10-28-2009 10:55 AM

not much racing competition on tuesdays

As pointed out at the recent Saratoga forum on horse racing, horse racing does not promote itself well. This number 1,469 really misrepresents the interest in that track and card . That is only live attendance at that track. Factor in all the folks watching the races through simulcast and you have many more in the "live" audience .

MISTERGEE 10-28-2009 10:59 AM

racing has to get people or they have to want to have the passion and desire to see races live for them to survive successfully long term

1. the meadowlands main focus is harness racing. (the home of the hambo)

2.most people work at 1pm on a tuesday afternoon, except for the unemployed

3. Favorites is irrelevant to the meadowlands because it is not near the meadowlands and the food sucks.

4. the meadowlands is not going anywhere.
