Following the Ralph Lauren altered ad photo story?

Was the photoshopped Ralph Lauren model fired for being overweight?

Last week Ralph Lauren came under fire for (what looked to be) an extremely altered photo of a model in one of its ads. Bloggers at the website BoingBoing.net posted the image online, and lawyers for Ralph Lauren attempted to sue them for copyright infringement. Unfortunately for Ralph Lauren, this only furthered public interest and outrage over the dangerously thin looking model and, eventually, the clothing company released this apology:

"For over 42 years we have built a brand based on quality and integrity. After further investigation, we have learned that we are responsible for the poor imaging and retouching that resulted in a very distorted image of a woman's body. We have addressed the problem and going forward will take every precaution to ensure that the caliber of our artwork represents our brand appropriately."

Unfortunately,"addressing the problem" may have included firing the model, 23-year-old Filippa Hamilton. She is 5'10" and weighs 120 pounds--clearly more full-bodied than the photoshopped girl we see in the advertisement.

She's MUCH hotter at 120 than at 80 pounds. That picture on the bottom is just gross.

Yeah I'm 5'10" and 135. Wow, that photoshopped pick on the bottom makes her look 75, yuck. Being a guy and that skinny, unable to gain any weight, well everyone just thinks your a jock lol..

Wow, and I thought I was skinny at 165 (same height). Have you tried the milkshake diet? I have one every night. Make them at my house. Not the milked down kind you get from most ice cream shops, each one contains no less than 1 pint of vanilla ice cream and very little milk. Maybe about 4 ozs.

I'm jealous of the two posters above.

Yes I tried the milkshake diet and turned into a beached whale.

There is no way you weigh 135 or more. Unless you have muscle weight. I would guess 115 MAX for you..

I was weighed at my physical the other day and am still the same size I was a few years ago....apparently I'm overly solid. I was nearly 11 lbs at birth..

There is no way you are 143. You must be like 8% body fat. (very low for a female) I was 5.5 pounds at birth. I didnt hold my form.

Sightseek 10-15-2009 01:15 PM

I am!

5.5? That is tiny!

I hope you dont "eat" them! I dont either. I drink them.
My best advice is to make them really think and immediately put in the freezer for 10-15 min before you partake. Last night I dialed up an Oreo Cookie shake and it was top 3 all time for sure. Completely erased the bad weekend I had...ahhh the power of a little milk and a lot of ice cream without the pain and hassle of a hangover. Much cheaper too.

I'd put that at possibly a negative figure on the jerkability index. It's the kind of pic that might cause you to lose your wood if you weren't serious.

Those big city fashion people are seriously deranged.
