Looks Like Indian Charlie is in a little tax Trouble

A friend Of mine from Ky called me Yesterday and Told me about this here's a little bit of the article

Edward Musselman, better known as the writer of the Indian Charlie tip sheet and satirical racing news circulated among horseplayers at tracks and horse sales, pleaded guilty to a felony charge of hiding money from the federal government on Friday.

Musselman, 57, was charged with bank structuring — breaking amounts down to deposits of under $10,000 in order to avoid government reporting requirements — according to court records

How ridiculous.

Wonder why the author left out the fact the US Atty has already agreed to probation and letting the reader think he may get prison time? It was in the very next sentence in the case file after saying he agreed to forfeit $2,617.21 so was omtted on purpose IMO.

I'm going to go ahead and assume those deposits were from sales of his product instead of winnings.

This is actually a well timed piece to be used as a scare tactic by the IRS. If you think about it with the upcoming deadline to file 1008 individual income tax returns on October 15, including the 6 month extension of time.

I'm actually happy that the IRS is cracking down on these CHEATS who think they are smarter than everyone else. It pisses me off when people "cheat" on their taxes, it only means the rest of us poor schmucks who get W2 wages have to pay. And when I say cheat I don't mean claiming an extra deduction here or there. I mean substantially understating their income or over stating their deductions.

OK I'll step down from my soap box now.
