Mountaineer tonight highlights

Race #4 feature a field of nine horses. Eight of which have run before. The top last out Beyer in the field is a 5. The first timer won't have to be much.

Race #7 features 12-year-old Coconut Willy and his trainer who is 0-for-82 over the last 3 years.

A son of Kingmambo, Coconut Willy debuted in a MSW at Santa Anita in April of 2000 for Ron Ellis. He was bet to 2/1 odds. Tiznow also debuted in that same race. He was 13/1 and finished behind Coconut Willy.

Race #8 features a 2/5 morning line favorite in Brave Nation. He's a West Virgina bred son of Indian Charlie trying WV breds for the first time. With the show minimum at $2.20 in the state of WV .. expect the bridgejumpers.

Race #9 features Deadly Dealer first off of the claim for the shady Scooter Davis. Deadly Dealer was once 2/1 second choice to Curlin in the Arkansas Derby. And 9/5 favorite in the Grade 2 Woody Stephens.

Scooter Davis is 47% first off the claim and maybe his sauce is strong enough to wake him up. He claimed him for 5K last time out.

Great post. Seriously--some interesting stuff.

steve 08-31-2009 07:04 PM

the show must go on....

Indian Charlie 08-31-2009 07:25 PM

There is a Ky bred and a Fl bred in the race. The rest are Wva.

That's the 8th race.

The Indomitable DrugS 08-31-2009 07:40 PM

The Fla bred and KY bred are somehow accredited WVA breds.

Maybe Cannon Shell can gives us an explanation on how that works.

Mountaineer
8
Pool: $19,162
Win Odds Win Pool Place Pool Show Pool
1 30 444 212 728
2 35 399 257 583
3 30 509 291 767
4 14 1,007 497 1,055
5 9 1,519 604 1,528
6 1/9 14,191 5,216 201,504
7 60 223 75 321
8 17 866 547 911

last time there was a negative show pool this big in WV they unfairly DQ'd the horse so they wouldn't have to pay it off... MNR just lost about $15k on the race.

The Indomitable DrugS 08-31-2009 09:10 PM

yeah, the horse paid $2.20 to win $2.20 to place and $2.20 to show.

Obviously a gigantic mismatch on paper.

Normally I would root for the bridgejump horse to lose ... but I'd rather see Mountaineer have to take it in the shorts than see a bunch of hundred dollar show payoffs.

I like Deadly Dealer in the next race, even though I haven't even looked at the form. I could never bet a horse at even money named John's Burger. Seriously... the Jockey Club let that one through???

John's Burger is dropping from just missing a length in an open stake to 5K starter.

He was tasty tonight.

They brought the cheese on that one tonight.

He had some mustard out there tonight.

If he doesn't run well they'll ship him to Turkey and he'll end up as John's Burger.

Etc Etc Etc

The Indomitable DrugS 08-31-2009 09:28 PM

Yeah .. not a great name

How about Deadly Dealer? That was a great 2nd at 6/1. That 47% first off of the claim stat will drop - but Scooter's chemicals are really good.

Because of Nicole's Dream ridiculous DQ or other reasons?

The Indomitable DrugS 08-31-2009 09:50 PM

Both.

I hit 3 balls out of bounds and 3 in the water yesterday and shot 74. Hit one out of bounds off the tee on par 5's and made par (so eagles if I didn't) TWICE!! My shoulder is finally almost healed and I've been playing a lot.

Some states like Delaware make you accredited if you spend 90 consecutive days there before Jan of your two year old year. I dont know about WV but they may have a similar program.

Thats pretty strong bro. I played in a pro-am a few weeks ago and did something I have never done in my life. I had more putts than shots. 40 putts and 39 shots. I hit 14 out of 18 greens and 11 out of 12 fairways. I had back to back 4 putts:eek: Nothing more fun in golf than having a 20 footer for eagle on a par 5 and walking off the green with a bogey:o
