Cocoa Beach ?

Is she finished or not ? I am handicapping tomorrow's card and really cant decided. They bring her back this year and now this is the second listed Stakes that they run her in. I dont know what to make of it ?

It's kind of hard to trust her at such a low price. One comeback in a listed stakes is one thing, but running her back in another spot that she seems too good for is kind of strange (I think she's overrated anyways). The scratch out of the GFW doesn't really worry me for obvious reasons, but where is the value for Godolphin in running her in a spot like this? If she was done they'd be better off just retiring her probably - not like they need to squeeze a little more $ out of her - but if she was her old self they'd be wasting her in a spot like this.

I dont know what to do with this race... Still looking and still not sure.
My main question is, even if she is herself is she that good ? Her top beyer is 100 and top turf beyer is 96, a few in here are capable of running that.

NYRA is even harder to trust. They're not getting another wasted SECOND out of me. I'll look at this race when I know, for certain, that it won't be taken off the turf. After the post parade should be about right.

You're handicapping with Beyers on the turf?

Yes, Cocoa Beach's efforts in the Breeders' Cup Distaff and the Matriarch were seriously good races.

That being said, as good as she looked last year, her comeback race was just as bad (like those put in by many of the Godolphin horses).

Too bad that Cable is relegated to the AE list.

I would never just use beyers to handicap any race, I use them as a guide....
What is your opinion ? I think Frankel and Pletcher are both dangerous in here, I think they might both prefer firm turf, and they should get that tomorrow.

If she doesn't scratch, I think they are just using the spot for a confidence builder. It is not a waste as long as she romps and feels good coming out of it. Having her go in a tough spot again and come up short might not be the best thing for her mentally.

Going from the BIBLE to the KORAN would tend to affect one's 'mentality'.
