I don't have a laptop for starters. And I wanted to actually go somewhere, not sit in my hotel room or in some internet cafe.
In the past before I was into horse racing I'd go to Harrah's and drop money there, now I'd rather drop that money at a window.

If your state has concealed carry state reciprocity with Louisiana, yes.

The safest place to be on that side of town may be inside the gates of the Fairgrounds.

Can you easily get a cab from the Fairgrounds back to the FQ? I know it's by City Park, we got married there, after the ceremony we called a cab and they never came and we ended up waiting around forever.
Then one happened to drive by and we flagged it down and somebody had recently puked in it, it was the middle of July, the smell was not pleasant, good times.

Paid transportations (cabs) is not an easy thing there.

You should have no problem getting a cab back from the Fair Grounds since it is now a racino.

Come on, it is not that bad. Granted, it gets dicey around the Gentilly gate, but the areas closer to Esplanade are fine.

Thats generally true, however I could not in good conscience not advise anyone around that area to keep their wits about them always having been down there a bazillion times.
