Those Lovable Losers

Does anyone else have a mental list of loveable losers? Those horses who repeatedly try so hard but who just can't seem to do it?

I do! I must have about 30 but i thought it might be fun to share one. :D

At the top of my list? His name is Big Squeeze. No really!

I first saw him in the 2004 Hollywood Derby. I think he had been last in the Baze Meadows Derby.....

A silly horse who likes to run out on the front... his tradition is to get sleepy as he goes around the turn.

I don't care what it says on Pedigree Query... he has TWO wins, not one. Liars!

He disappeared for a bit but watch out world, he's baaaack! Hooray!

(... and look, he wasn't last).:D

the pedigree query website is great
but it's not professional
it's not often updated
and I think anyone can do it
as I recall once someone had put down on War Emblem
that he was some type of horse transvestite~ transsexual
maybe homosexual
forgot what is was, but basically War doesn't like women (broodmares)
and can't get it up when called upon to stud

I usually like low profile trainers
beating high profile trainers
in big races
Moquett & Seek Gold come to mind

To my knowledge, the part about War Emblem is true. He shows no interest in mares. From a purely biological standpoint, there are plenty of recorded instances of homosexuality in other species, so why not horses? (No starting an argument about whether or not it's natural, please!!!) Then again, maybe he just doesn't enjoy being exploited. :p

Yeah anyone can update Pedigree Query which is good and bad. I like checking the progeny of broodmares in regard to maiden races but since anyone can update it, the information is probably only accurate a little more than half of the time...

Anybody can update pedigree query, but if you want to see a particular animal's lineage, it's definitely useful and definitely accurate. Some of the other stuff isn't quite as updated, but that's not really what one always uses pedigree query for, no?

I was watched some old races the other day, and talk about loveable losers, Master David comes to mind.

I love Perfect Drift because I've made a mint keying him in the 2nd and 3rd spots. I did pick him in the Derby back in 1985 or whatever year he was 3.
