I love Gorella as much as the next person but don't think she can get 9.5f

What do you all think?? Should she have any trouble with the distance

1st_Saturday_in_May 08-10-2006 03:01 PM

I think she can get the distance but I think she'll find traffic trouble

I'm leaning that way too.. I think she's the best in the field, but the distance and traffic may cause her problems.

the only way she has traffic problems is if the french guy shoots the rail, he does that, he is screwed, but her kick is perfect to start right at the final turn, she will be fine. Not sure where I am going yet

Rising Cross.......

period

tycharles01 08-10-2006 03:08 PM

I don't thing there will be much traffic problems, but I think you will see her running in quicksand coming around the turn.

Alot of these have run 1 1/4 races so they should still have something, Gorella has been running alot of 1 mile

Balletto 08-10-2006 03:10 PM

I think this race holds a LOT of value. I have a tri going in my head... we'll see...

I like Rising Cross too, but can't lie I don't know much about her other that she is a 3yr old

Is she a closer? stalker?? Race out front??

I really think she could do any of the three here.

Hopefully she goes out and lays right off easy fractions and quickens earlier than anyone. This would be how I think she could win the easiest.

She has an extended kick that can last 3+ furlongs.

Just looking over the girls its interesting that Gorella and Shap Lisa are both from the same family... that of the conduit mare St. Lucre.

Anyway, I really like Royal Copenhagan, Wend, Chic Dancer and throw in the always dangerous Film Maker. What are everyone's thoughts on Rich in Spirit? She has one of the classiest families... might be real dangerous.

miraja2 08-10-2006 03:24 PM

To me this race is EXTREMELY difficult. For example, Chic Dancer has won her last 5 races over the Arlington Turf including her last race which was a graded stakes race going this EXACT distance over this EXACT course against a field of 10.....yet she might be a toss for me because I am just not sure she has the class of these others.
Extremely difficult. But I think you are right to toss Gorella. I don't like her chances going 9.5 against these.

Balletto 08-10-2006 03:25 PM

It is a great field and I think almost every filly has a resonable shot to make the money... I LOVE turf races like this.

Wend will hit the board if the turf isn't soft. Although my pick is Rising Cross here, I like Rich in Spirit as well... I'm a huge fan of having Blushing Groom in the dam's sire line.

Balletto 08-10-2006 03:28 PM

I just realized I picked like half the damn field... so all you serious handicappers ignore me. This race just excites me.

I do the same thing... I tend to pick the most winners by looking at them in the post parade. (Although I blew it big with Bluegrass Cat this weekend. I thought for sure he was was going to finish out of the money because he was so washed out.)

slotdirt 08-10-2006 03:30 PM

Can't discount Honey Ryder either....

1st_Saturday_in_May 08-10-2006 03:31 PM

Gorella, Rising Cross / Gorella, Rising Cross, Wend, Honey Ryder, Film Maker / ALL

Yeah thats the best I can do for the tri. Also really pissed that Arlington isnt offering a Pick 4 with all of the big races in it.

Gander 08-10-2006 03:34 PM

Nope. All she does is win races. Pletcher has done really well spotting her races. I dont think shes as talented as Film Maker or Wend but shes a win machine.

tycharles01 08-10-2006 03:38 PM

Only problem I see with Film Maker is Post #11

There is a big chance she gets pushed 4 or even 5 wide in that turn and fall back Def chance to hit the board tho
