Indian Blessing has to be a major play against, she was so bad last race with no excuse.

Couldn't that be the same rationale behind tossing the race completely?

It could be but I am always leery of top class speedsters who are suddenly outfooted by an inferior horse, loss of speed is always a first sign that a horse is not right.

Coco Belle isn't exactly a goat and IB was in the position you'd have to expect when they were going down the backstretch. It was when she was asked and didn't pick up that the problems arose.

Cocoa Belle is no where near grade 1 speed, Indian Blessing should have blow by her on the turn, and then if caught late I would be a lot more optimistic. Look I am saying at 4/5 she is a play against, not that she is a claimer now.

This is not the card it was 5 years ago.

Yeah, Benny the Bull's got a long way to go to get to this group of killers:

2007 - Mach Ride
2006 - Nightmare Affair
2005 - Woke Up Dreamin
2004 - Champali
2001 - Fappie’s Notebook
2000 - Forty One Carats

Indian Blessing also doesn't stack up to these at all:

2008 - Mistical Plan (Corey Nakatani)
2007 - River's Prayer (Shaggy Mane placed.)
2006 - Malibu Mint
2005 - Madcap Escapade
2004 - Ema Bovary
2003 - Gold Mover
2002 - Gold Mover
2001 - Dream Supreme
2000 - Hurricane Bertie

The point is that the two biggest races on this card have never really been that great and having two champions on the card is an accomplishment.

There is nothing wrong with any of these horses, it just doesn't make me want to go and bet, or watch.

the_fat_man 07-07-2009 11:11 PM

IB is right back in her element: beating nothing on, what will surely be, a speed favoring track. He's hoping she makes her figurecentric admirers happy by throwing another big one. Of course, the way she's gotten spanked recently (going back to the BC, of course), it's been nothing but pleasant for me.:)

Madcap Escapade was awesome.

Ask Joe should be very hard to beat.

Excuse my cheerleading but hoping this guy wins.

Haven't looked at pp's yet...

Bobby Fischer 07-08-2009 06:59 PM

this is one of those races you pray Indian Blessing wins with a high beyer so you can beat her next time, and if she loses too early, it hits you in the pit of your stomach.

Clearly you're not on Stonegossard's Beyer scale.

If you're so eager to play against her, why would you ever wait a race?
If she sucks on Saturday, then that was the time to toss her.
If she runs big, then there's a lot less evidence in favor of playing against her
next out on dirt.

Anyone like dubai majesty in the princess rooney? i saw her (and bet her) here at CD on KD day and was impressed with her speed that day but i dont know how she stacks up with these. Just wondering
