So what are we cutting?

WASHINGTON -- President Obama bolstered Chicago's 2016 Olympic bid, creating a new White House office of Olympic, Paralympic and Youth Sport on Tuesday, the day before a crucial presentation by Chicago and U.S. Olympic officials to International Olympic Committee members in Lausanne, Switzerland.

In addition, senior White House adviser Valerie Jarrett taped a greeting to be played for Olympic officials. Before joining the Obama administration, Jarrett was tapped by Mayor Daley to help lead the committee seeking the 2016 Games for Chicago. The new sports office -- and Jarrett's message -- is intended to send the message to Olympic officials that Chicago's bid has the highest possible level of White House support.

I presume this will cost some :$: :$: so what are we cutting to pay for it or does the 'pay as we go' only include congress?

The biggest hurdle the bid faces is that NO monies have been guranteed at the State or Federal level. All are private donations, etc...Isn't that a good thing? The other three bids all feature guaranteed Dollars from the Countries, Cities, etc.

that's a great thing... but still where's the cuts to pay for this new office and I presume staff? Or is that 'pay as you go' line BS like I suspected all along?

Guess that changed a bit today? Hope Madrid gets the Olympics. Always heard Daley wanted to add a star to Chicago's flag but that's not worth what this will cost.

Daley to put taxpayers on hook for Olympic financial losses

I'm sure they want the olympics, just don't want obama getting any credit for helping them get there.

Personally I do not want the Olympics and Obama jumped on this band wagon way late in the game. He will have very little to do with it possitive or negative. This is all Daley's party and Daley cronies stand to make a fortune. We're coming off Daley selling the city's parking meter business to a private company at a bargain price that now the alderman are trying to renig on. They are afforded virtually the same police powers as the city sans the guns. His nephew is currently under Federal Investigation for handling the city's pension funds. Minority contracts have gone to mobsters and Clinton supporters. Gotta think there is a Daley somewhere taking a course on 'how to insure the Olympics' and a whole slew of union carpenters, electricians and iron workers ready to come out of retirement to pad the payroll and give guidance and support to the ones who will do the actual work. And by the way Obama and Daley were never very close unless one needed something from the other.
