Congratulations to oilertige's son Marc

Hearty congratulations in order to oilertige and his son Marc who was drafted in the 2nd round, 64th overall, in the Amatuer Baseball Draft by the Arizona Diamondbacks..

http://www.ohiobobcats.com/sports/m-...060909aaa.html

He's a 21 year old, lefty-swinging outfielder from the University of Ohio who leads the nation in HR's per game. Best of luck and good health wghen he enters the D-Back system to begin the journey to the bigs. Great accomplishment already... :tro:

No. 64, Marc Krauss, OF, Ohio: Krauss made a name for himself with a stellar performance in the Cape Cod League last summer and carried it over into this season, hitting .402, ranking third in the nation with 27 home runs and posting an on-base percentage of .521.

This is really awesome. It isn't like he is 485th round, f'n 2nd round. Boy has some talent. And he gets to roll to AZ and party with hot chicks, mountains and nice weather...Can life get any better for this dude :)

Father has to be quite proud

But the holdout will be brief

From MLB.com

Second round, Mark Krauss, OF, Ohio University: A performance-based pick and one of the better college hitters in the Draft, he led the Cape Cod League in RBIs and on-base percentage last summer and hit 22 homers this year for the Bobcats. Swings from left side of plate, and power should transfer from aluminum to wood bats. Has played third base, but will start out as left fielder in Arizona system.

Thanks for well wishes!

Thanks to all DT'ers for the very kind words and well wishes! We were all just so excited over this entire ordeal; lots of anticipation about the whole process; then actually having name called - and now moving on professional ball. And Scavs, he will not be in Phoenix with all the "amenities" that you described; he'll be starting off in Missoula, Montana; in the Pioneer Leauge; traveling via bus to such hotbeds like Helena, Great Falls, Casper . . . and he is quite pumped!

A funny draft night happening. Our family was in a hotel suite in Columbus; going "hi tech" by connecting our laptop to the flatscreen; all going well until pick #42; oops; the site freezes. So we frantically attempt to re-connect to MLB.com - can't get back in; so Plan B - my oldest son called his wife in Chicago; her computer/connection was working fine; so she held the phone to the computer as each selection was made as we huddled in our room around the speakerphone. We missed a few selections; but we heard the one we needed to hear!:)

Sorry for length here; but wanted to share . . . and again; we really do appreciate the kind words!

(guess I'll need to get a new logo!)

There have to be a lot of nights freezing at Little League games, carting him around for travel baseball, etc that all were rushing through your head last night...excellent
