just a thought

If Calvin had ridden MTB in the Preakness instead of RA would we be talking about a TC possibility this week?

Surely Calvin was worth at least a length to RA over an other jock in the field

The Indomitable DrugS 06-02-2009 11:47 AM

If you replaced John Velazquez with someone rational on Big Drama the margin of victory very likely would have been larger.

zippyneedsawin 06-02-2009 11:47 AM

impossible to say.. the pace scenario may have been different.

brianwspencer 06-02-2009 11:59 AM

Thank god this is just a hypothetical.

It'd have been about my worst nightmare, after all of these solid to good horses failed to win the TC, to even have had to consider the possibility of MTB winning it.

Really?

My worst nightmare just occured this week ...

That 17 year old Romanian Tennis chick with the big rack just had breast reduction surgery.

It goes from this .....

to there not being a good reason to ever watch tennis once again.

There's always college gymnastics (my favorite). And, the college soft ball chicks are wearing much tighter pants this year.

To say that Calvin was worth at least a length to RA over another jockey wouldn't be true in the Preakness. I didn't see anything at all wrong with Smith's ride. In fact, him moving when he did and going wide was the only reason that MTB made it as close as he did.

If Calvin tried to save ground and go the rail or just off the rail, there's a good chance he would have finished 3rd or worse.

So far MTB has proved to be a "solid" horse. He was a "solid" 2yo and now a classic winning 3yo who is probably the best 3yo colt in the country... MAYBE behind Quality Road.

But the hypothetical question is incorrect. DrugS said it best but no one was beating Rachel that day... not even a jockey like Calvin Borel (like Albarado would have been worse??)

brianwspencer 06-02-2009 12:20 PM

I should have been more clear -- it would have been my worst horse racing nightmare. I could think of lots of worse things.

why not? i read on here gets her to relax better than anyone else....isn't that worth something , a length , maybe a half length ?

Well perhaps "solid" isn't a high enough standard.

Just stating the obvious that I'm pretty sure nobody is confusing him with Silver Charm.

oh my! I bet some line judges were missing calls left and right during her matches.

zippyneedsawin 06-02-2009 12:29 PM

Here DrugS, I hope this eases the pain:

She's a total beast!

I can't believe she thinks those boobies are what's holding her back.

I agree... I think MTB is a solid and good horse.

I'd like to see an absolutely spectacular horse win the TC though. The one that I thought had the goods was Point Given. Maybe Silver Charm a close second.

The others were good... I thought Smarty Jones could have been listed with PG and Silver Charm if he had continued to race and race well..

Out of the blue question... Who do you think was the better race horse, Real Quiet or Victory Gallop?

she's still only 17, so I feel a little 'wrong' talking about her.. I'm sure I'll feel differently after birthday.. how long do I have to wait? :)

Even Rosie Homiester Jr. might have a prettier face....

But yeah, I'd still gladly let the two of em have their way with me just for the story to tell.

You think 17 really matters when the chick can squash you like a grape?

I know I don't.

miraja2 06-02-2009 02:51 PM

Eh, I still prefer Ivanovic and Hingis.
