Warrior's Reward

104 Beyer for his allowance win Friday at CD. A new 14 point top in his reunitement with Borel. Nice win closing from double digit lengths out.

He's the son of Medaglia D' Oro out of a Seeking The Gold mare who won his debut at 30/1 in the race where Nicanor bombed.

If anyone else rode him last weekend I'd say he might be a clever Preakness horse and would suggest they should go.

Wasn't there a post somewhere about the horses that Dunkirk beat doing nothing?

Tough beat for Munnings.

When Warrior's Reward ran against Dunkirk he rode the rail into the first turn - while Dunkirk and the great Sincero were hung out impossibly wide.

Munnings sure does look like a nice dirt sprinter on return.

Where that race from Warrior's Reward came from - I have no idea - but he was only one of about six horses ridden by Calvin Borel to win with a new lifetime top fig on either Oaks or Derby day. He sure had a hot hand.

I didn't think so, especially since the offgoing. Matter of fact, I think Bigs and I both had the same horses in the multi wagers (Munnings, Warrior's Reward, Custom for Garbage and Just Ben) even without consulting.

And while I am on the soapbox, if Ivory Empress gets up in the 3rd that day, I hit the first 6 races, every possible multi wager involved in them. Was very frustrated by that result

Not so much at all going into the race - even though he ran worse than Sincero in that allowance two back - and ran terrible in the Tampa Derby.

Considering how well Munnings came back though - yeah, his performance was pretty surprising.

Munnings ran better than Warrior's Reward.

When Warrior's Reward won his debut ... he beat a 20/1 Pletcher horse with a 23 Beyer in his only start .. and that one hasn't run back. The horse who was 3rd to WR in his debut has run terrible since finishing 3rd. I thought it was a lousy race.

In Warrior's Reward's second career race ... he had a perfect trip and was crushed by Dunkirk and ran worse than Sincero.

In Warrior's Reward's third career race ... he was perfectly positioned in the Tampa Derby and could manage only an 8th place finish beating two horses.

I just think he wasn't that much horse coming into Saturday .. maybe he did figure to project for big improvment ... but that was monster improvment imo.

I wouldn't have been that shocked had he won .. I was shocked by his performance though.
