Does anyone here - or anyone's girlfriend for that matter - want track odds plus a ten percent rebate on Mine That Bird in the Preakness?

I'd have gladly taken his action at 500/1 ... and maybe 500/1 on that horse who ran 2nd in the Humana Distaff as well ...

Even though I felt the field consisted of 19 absolute suspects .. I would have placed the probability of a Mine That Bird win on par with the probability of 15 riders falling off at the gate ... and a 'Street Sense' like daring rail skimming ride by Calvin Borel to beat the remaining non riderless trio of Join in the Dance, Advice, and Atomic Rain in a four way win photo

Honestly, when it happened, I felt sure the world was about to end.

I was watching Papa Clem tip out and looking fairly menacing just outside the quarter pole when I spotted a horse inside moving like a rocket - and I could tell it was Borel making the move because he's easy to pick up .. I just assumed there was a late rider switch or two I didn't bother to hear about.

Today was the 1st Derby in 20 years that my wife has not bet anything. in the race.....Needless to say, right before they opened the gate, she said i like the 8.....She is so pissed off right now.....But then again , when isnt she mad at something?.

I asked Maker last fall why Ken ramsey was running a filly by Street Cry out of a Pulpit mare for 15k. Knowing that out of the 200 broodmares that KR owns most are not so commercially bred.

I suppose Accredit eased some of the Temple Street and General Quarters bitterness.

Accredit was a hell of a claim. When he was dropped in for a tag I remember thinking I wish I had $75k, I'd snap that one up.

I felt the same way about Charismatic....only I was smart enough not to make such a preposterous redboard here.

I called and told him he had to snatch that one.. HE said he was already begging KR to drop. It was a no brainer claim.
Accredit was sold from Darley to new owners then they dropped him in for 75k.

blackthroatedwind 05-02-2009 09:22 PM

Now it's a group redboard.

Payson Dave 05-02-2009 09:24 PM

Yeah, Dave, I make 500-1 shots Dunce Cap horses.

I make short priced horses Dunce Cap horses. You do get that.....right?

Payson Dave 05-02-2009 09:29 PM

yesss I get that.... it just that I didn't have a nickle on him and I try to make it a point to throw a sentimental duece on all your Dunce Cap horses... was afraid I might have missed out on a possible score

What, saying stakes winners they try to sneak by for a tag on the inner is a redboard? I had no idea. He won him in a shake as far as I know so I don't think my opinion was exactly original.

Payson Dave 05-02-2009 09:33 PM

not a drop.... just brain dead senility

How is recalling a conversation you had with someone redboarding?

Trust me after this weekend I have nothing to Redboard. In the Humana (9horse field) today I used 5 horses in some manner thru either a tri or a p4. None of the 5 hit the Super! :tro:

I'm a little stunned that wanting to buy a horse for $75K that had run three out of four races with a negative TG #, triple digit Beyers, is considered a redboard.

But not as stunned that a horse that was 15 lengths too slow won America's biggest race.
